York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM) is a wholly owned subsidiary of York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We provide estates, facilities and medical engineering services that are essential to delivering safe, high‑quality patient care across the Trust’s hospitals and community sites. This is a senior leadership role with accountability for the development of the Trust’s built environment, ensuring it is safe, compliant, sustainable and fit for the future. As Deputy Director of Development, you will lead capital projects, property transactions and the delivery of net zero initiatives across YTHFM. You will provide professional leadership across development services, assuring standards, risk management, financial control and governance, and will deputise for the Managing Director as required. This role plays a central part in delivering the Trust’s estate strategy and supporting its long‑term clinical and service ambitions.
You will provide strategic and operational leadership for capital development, property and net zero programmes. You will lead complex capital schemes from business case to completion, ensuring quality, safety, value for money and compliance. You will oversee significant capital budgets, with accountability for financial performance and risk, and act as Project Director for major developments, leading multidisciplinary teams and external partners. You will also provide expert advice to YTHFM and the Trust on estate development and contribute to senior‑level Trust and system planning.
You will be a credible senior leader with substantial experience delivering large‑scale capital programmes in complex environments. You will bring strong professional judgement, political awareness and the ability to influence at senior levels. You will lead through complexity, set clear direction and hold teams to high standards, fostering a culture of trust, accountability and continuous improvement.
The role operates across all Trust sites, supporting leadership, delivery and assurance.
