The Curriculum Area of Performing Arts provision is part of the Creative Industries, Sport, Curriculum Area and sits within the Llanelli Directorate operated from the Graig Campus. Its dynamic area offers a diverse range of courses from Level 1 through to Level 4.
As part of the ‘Creative Industries’ department, Performing Arts run vibrant programmes for their learners, providing them with a clear understanding of the sector, enabling them to progress into employment and/or higher education which also includes vocational dance or drama college. They offer courses at Level 2 through to Level 4 and have strong links with industry specialists, who visit as guest speakers and run workshop sessions. The department emphasises the development of creative skills as an integral element of provision, and offers Skills Academy sessions to all learners in the area.
This post will also work closely with our Music Performance & Production and Creative Media Departments. The aim is to promote creative collaborations to enhance learner’s experiences, and develop a regional reputation for excellence in the delivery of creative industries. We are moving forward into an era that has many opportunities within UWTSD, ‘Yr Egin’ development and the move of S4C and other tenants to the iconic building. This has provided us with new collaboration opportunities with local and National industry as well as working in response to government priorities in order to develop the curriculum with the introduction of WBL to the area.
All learners undertake a Literacy or Numeracy Skills pathways along-side their main qualification together with a strong pastoral tutorial programme.

Undertake the teaching and assessment of Voice in Performing Arts for Level 2, 3 and 4.
- Lead singing skills session for Level 2, 3 and 4.
- Lead the college choir and performance academy if required.
- Liaise with creative industries colleagues, managers and directors to ensure an effective learner experience and successful outcome.
- Deliver and promote Skills development and work to produce successful candidates to apply to Higher Education and Vocational School/ colleges.
- Actively work to develop recruitment through the creation of projects and engagement with local schools whilst promoting internal and external marketing opportunities.
- Actively seek creative collaboration opportunities between creative industry departments and external providers.
- Actively create and promote a diverse programme of activities that include masterclasses/workshops and visits to enhance the learners’ experiences.
Essential Criteria:
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification
- Teaching qualification (If you are not in possession of a teaching qualification as at the date of employment, you will be required to obtain a PGCE within 2 years of this date)
- GCSE English at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent
- GCSE Mathematics at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent
- Documented evidence of appropriate Professional Development
- Relevant teaching experience
- Estill Voice experience or training
- Good literacy and numeracy skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels both orally and in writing
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
- Ability to work harmoniously with learners and colleagues
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Excellent punctuality and ability to work flexibly
Desirable Criteria:
- A proven track record of high levels of learner attainment
- Awareness of key performance indicators
- Evidence of innovative teaching and learning activities
- Evidence of effective tracking and monitoring of learner performance
- Experience of actively participating in the pastoral care of young people
- Sound understanding of digital literacy
- A current driving licence and use of a car
- Willingness to drive a college minibus
- Willingness to contribute to develop extra-curricular activities
Welsh Language Requirements:
- Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 0/1 Desirable
- Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 0/1 Desirable

In 2013 it became Coleg Sir Gar Ltd, a company within the University of Wales: Trinity Saint David Group, and part of a regional Dual Sector University. The College has an annual turnover of over £35m and employs around 800 staff.
Coleg Ceredigion was created in 1985 and became a corporate institution in 1993. The college merged with the University of Wales Trinity Saint David as a subsidiary company in 2014. The college has an annual turnover of £6m and employs around 180 staff.
The College is based in South West Wales and has seven main campuses at Llanelli (Graig), Carmarthen (Pibwrlwyd and Jobs Well), Ammanford, Llandeilo (Gelli Aur), Aberystwyth and Cardigan. The College is also home to Carmarthen School of Art which has its origins dating back to 1854.
