Freelance Planning Advisor / Ex-Planning Officer (Remote)

Company Overview

Prestige Planning is a London-based planning consultancy and planning agency specialising in the preparation, coordination, and submission of planning applications across a wide range of residential and commercial developments.

We work with a team of architectural drafters, designers, and planning consultants to prepare and manage various types of planning applications, including householder developments, conversions, HMOs, flat schemes, commercial projects, lawful developments, prior approvals, and larger-scale planning submissions.

As our workload continues to grow, we are looking to expand our team with an experienced Planning Advisor who can provide professional oversight and planning expertise across active projects.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Planning Advisor, ideally a former Local Authority Planning Officer, with extensive knowledge in reviewing planning application packs and identifying potential planning issues before submission.

The primary role will involve reviewing completed planning application packs prepared by our team to ensure that all drawings, layouts, supporting documents, and planning details are accurate, coordinated, and compliant before applications are submitted to the council.

The role will also involve providing practical planning advice on projects, development strategies, and planning-related matters where required.

Main Responsibilities

Review planning application packs before submission.
Check architectural drawings and supporting documents for consistency and accuracy.
Identify missing information, planning risks, or technical inconsistencies.
Review room sizes, floor areas, refuse and cycle storage arrangements, parking layouts, and general planning compliance matters.
Advise on planning strategies and development opportunities.
Provide practical feedback to improve planning submissions.
Attend occasional online meetings regarding active projects and planning approaches.

Ideal Candidate

Former Local Authority Planning Officer preferred.
Alternatively, an experienced UK Town Planner or Planning Consultant.
Strong understanding of UK planning policy and residential/commercial development.
Experience reviewing planning application packs professionally.
Ability to interpret architectural drawings and planning documents.
Detail-oriented with strong practical planning knowledge.
Comfortable working remotely and independently.

Work Structure

At present, the role will begin on a freelance and project-based basis.

Planning application reviews will generally be paid per application pack reviewed.
Planning consultations and meetings will be paid on an hourly basis.
Workload may vary depending on active projects and application volume.

However, the long-term intention is for this role to develop into a permanent full-time position as the company continues to grow and expand its operations.

Pay: £20.00-£30.00 per hour

Work Location: Remote
