Job Overview
Credo Care Fostering is an Ofsted Registered Outstanding fostering agency specialising in providing family based foster care to children with additional needs, disabilities and medical needs who are Looked After in Care.

We are recruiting an Agency Medical Advisor (self-employed), whose primary role is to evaluate medical information of prospective foster carers and existing foster carers, when their medicals are renewed and give a view to the fostering assessment team about the applicants’ health needs that will inform the decision about their suitability as foster carers for children being placed or cared for by them.

The Agency Medical Advisor would be a member of the fostering panel central list, although this does not require attendance at panel meeting.

We are looking for somebody who is interested in in this field of work and who is a Registrar, Consultant or GP.

Responsibilities

To review applicants’ medical assessment forms and to comment on any aspect of their health and wellbeing that may be detrimental to and/or impair their capacity to parent a Looked After child placed with them.
To request further information from the GP or specialists as needed
To be part of the Fostering Panel central list, which includes attending panel training once a year and having an annual appraisal as a panel member.
To advise the Fostering Panels on any medical issue relating to fostering applicants that are present or may arise in the future.

General

To adhere to the policies and procedures of Credo Care as laid down in the Statement of Purpose; this includes safeguarding, data protection and GDPR, and equal opportunities policies.
At all times, to maintain the highest standards of professional practice.
To work in a collaborative and empathetic manner.
To comply with the requirements for registration of their respective professional body and to keep their professional membership up to date.

Rate of Pay: £100 per report

Hours: Variable - Review medical assessment of prospective foster carers prior to panel (around 6-8 times per year). Time spent on each one will vary depending on amount of information to be assessed.
