I chose to work agency for the very reason that I had other commitments to hold down that prevented me from working a full job.

At the time of employment, I found the management to be expecting abit much out of me and frequently pressured me into working more hours than I'd signed up for in low quality workplaces.

They were also abit nosey and very inquisitive/distrustful of my personal life without good reason and often asked me to abandon my other commitments and pull jobs that no one else wanted to do.

I never had a feeling of job security, as agency work goes this is to be expected. But the trade off was not worth it, as I was not given the flexibility I was due as a temporary agency worker and I had to battle constant phone calls to explain why and how I was busy when I couldn't make work, and they never took note of when I'd said I wouldn't be able to work. Pay was minimum.

Whilst working for Berry I contracted Glandular Fever. I was not allowed sick pay and had to leave. After I recovered, I decided it was in my best interests not to go back and move on.

Berry were a decent agency to work for, very professional and communicative. However, they were surprisingly negligent when it came to looking after employees, respecting my boundaries and communicating some certain job details.

I worked as an Agency Chef.
I worked in Hotels, Private care homes,Hospitals,Cafes, Wine bars
Private boarding schools,Fine dinning restaurants and Bistros.

I learned to adapt my styles of cooking and as jobs could last from 1 day to 1 year, I learned very quickly how to work with new people in new envirorments without upsetting the balance of the kitchen team.

Most times I would come as Head or 2nd Chef so being able to learn new menus and procedures while managing my new team was very
inportant.

I would not say it was hard but if you are not on the ball and ready to go, Learning new menus ect can be very challenging.
The hardest part of the job would be leaving new friends every few weeks or months.

I enjoy new things, So I loved going from place to place, I was lucky so was doing jobs from 3 months to 1 year at a time.
I like meeting new people and Have been to over 30 countries meeting and learning new people and cultures.

I have always worked in kitchens from the age of 16. I've been kitchen porter to Head Chef and Kitchen Managment.

I enjoy working with people and i'm not afraid of hard work.
I enjoy being part of a team, weather team member/Leader or management.

I have always worked in Kitchens and I feel right at home working in
the food industry.

Berry recruitment is a catering and hospitality organisation that hold staff capable of working with all types of catering staff including managers, supervisor, chefs, bar and waiting staff, food service assistants and kitchen po, I started working for this company at the age of 15 and worked my way up from bar and waiting staff to supervisor and then manager, this role allowed me to work with a varying group of people and organisations. This allowed me to gain confidence and directly manage and supervise large groups of people. I Worked for several large companies on a regular basis

urgently advertised for staff in my local town - no shifts on the app AT ALL in the borough the town is located, never mind in the town itself. shifts are fairly consistent once you are accepted onto one, but if they automatically assign you to continue the job you’re at without prior communication to you to see if you are available to work. if you are not available on a specific day(s) in the schedule, then they will accuse you of not being putting the job first and fulfilling your obligations of working there (despite you not knowing that you were needed at that location in the future in the first place). the management is awful and they have a nasty attitude, there is no communication between workers in office, nor between the office and clients, and the app will recommend shifts on the other side of the city to you despite only having a ten mile radius on from your home postcode. they say they are good for those who do not/cannot drive, but trust me when i say that they are not because they advertise for towns that have never had an application put on the app, thus making the need for a car all the more important. 

I registered with berry recruitment and was told I could start work the next day (sounds good) after filling out all the paperwork they told me they will contact me later on that day and does it matter what time they called. Of course I said call any time as I needed the work but that call never happened a week went past and still no call but they kept advertising jobs in my area that i applied for. So I called the berry recruitment and asked why I hadn't been called and they said that employer is no longer interested in hiring and I said to them but your advertising the job but it's not available. He just replied it's the end of the tax year and companies are reluctant to hire. Another couple of weeks went by and still no call so I called up again I asked about work and he told me no one is hiring at the moment it's gone all quite so I told him to dispose of all of my details and information and he became rude. Berry recruitment signs up lots of people to make it look good to employers that they have loads of people looking for work but they don't care about employee. Very disappointed

Covering a colleague on sick leave.  Whilst the role required did not match the role to be covered the introduction to management accounting was interesting.  Given further consistent tasks and working alongside pre existing templates I would certainly have adapted my skills base accordingly. However, seriously, who is going to do the 'Management Accountants' role on a purchase ledger clerks pay for any length of time?

The staff were extremely friendly, some already practicing semi-retirement and used any excuse to elongate conversations to while away their time.  I can't deny it was a struggle when I am  generally a dynamic and focused worker.  One particular lady had a laugh that resembled Carry On actor Sid James and although highly entertaining, the volume and repetition, could prove nauseating (Bless her).  However, I found all staff friendly and welcoming and tea and a multitude of tempting cakes hovered continuously to fatten us all up.

a typical day of work is fairly tough as we are pushed by management to excel at our rates to be able to hit the target so there are no late deliveries. it is a fairly tough and fast paced work environment.
During my time at Argos I have learnt a lot about warehouse work and gained two licences. these consist of a reach truck licence and low level order picker licence and it goes to show you do not need to be at a company long before they want you to progress but you have to show that you are eager to learn new things and progress yourself.
As Berry recruitment are an agency it is hard for me to comment on the management there but during my time with berry i have rarely had a problem and when i do it gets sorted fairly quickly and efficiently. 
the co-workers there are probably the best part of the job. the majority of the people there are easy to get along with, can have a laugh with, but most importantly, get the job done.

Recruited by berry to be a production op ar gestamp Aycliffe,  I was told lots of work, various shifts with lots of overtime available. 
I wasn't looking for casual or short term work.
I had interview,  drug testing,  two day induction an three days training,  during which my shifts were changed to continental and told this would be until summer and given my shifts for next 12 months.
After first week I and several other new starters were Finnished due to a miscalculated labour requirements. 
Work was back breaking with minimal training, I ended up buying my own tools. 
Attitude of berry when I got Finnished was shocking. 
So after all the agro I got 3 weeks work.
I won't use swear words but if a plane crashed onto the berry recruitment office at gestamp I would go out and buy a bottle of champagne. 
Worst sort of agency going.

Avoid these charmless idiots at all costs and go elsewhere. All they do is mess people about and to be honest, the staff need to go on a  people awareness course. The attitude towards people is nothing short of disgusting and I only regret having found these people to start with. Come on employers, advertise direct and do away with agencies.
Never again will I use these amateur incompetent people. A lot of the jobs do not exist any longer but they don't tell you. This is to get you onto their books and I'm frankly amazed how they make any money at all. When I go self employed I will make sure that I treat all my staff fairly and speak to them in a manner that you address another human being. They show zero respect.

Look at all the bad reviews.....we can't all be wrong.

Good for getting you work quickly.  This may be the ideal job for you if you are a student in college or university with plenty of evening and weekend shifts available.  

The variety of work is quite good.  Some are nice enjoyable shifts, especially the weekend shifts when a team of you goes to an event and helps out. (though beware of grumpy 'stressed out managers spoiling it)  Other work isn't very pleasant, you may end up stacking trays and throwing away rubbish for 6 hours without doing any thing else.  A lot of the week during the work is just 'Potwash' though you may get a chance to cook and serve customers.. 

Great for topping up an income and for young people to gain valuable work experience.. Can't make a career out of it.
