Busy and productive team. working closely with commissioning teams, to develop improved services for Bristol and operating under the Public Procurement Regulations 2015 and EU OJEU regulations .
I am now using the new e-procurement system, with further development  of additional project managements skills with a variety of high and low value projects. Interesting work, to help improve services around Bristol.  .
Working closely with cross functional teams, to develop more cost effective collaborative ways of working. This is based on continuous improvements and developing better ways to record outcomes, so that the data can be shared and used for future requirements.
Management work closely with staff to develop and improve any gaps which may need improving, so standardised practices and processes are used to assist with the procurement process.The job does entail a lot of travelling from the many sites which are occupied in Bristol and can take time to locate a parking place in between meetings where parking is a premium.
The most enjoyable part of the job is working within a good team of people, who are all extremely busy, but all work hard to obtain some real positive outcomes and cost savings for the council when funds are continuing to be cut.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part of working as an interpreter for Bristol City Council is being able to bridge communication gaps and help people access essential services. It’s rewarding to know that my work empowers individuals to express themselves clearly and receive the support they need. I also appreciate the diversity of the role, meeting people from different backgrounds and learning something new every day.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part of working as an interpreter for Bristol City Council is managing situations where communication barriers involve sensitive or urgent matters, such as legal or medical appointments. It can be challenging to ensure accuracy under pressure while supporting clients who may be distressed or vulnerable.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment and culture at Bristol City Council is collaborative, inclusive, and supportive. There is a strong focus on public service and ensuring that everyone can access essential resources. As an interpreter, I appreciate the respect for diversity and the emphasis on clear communication, which creates a positive and professional atmosphere for both staff and clients.

Busy and very pressurised.  I've learned to get in with my job and keep my head down, and can no longer enjoy the job I love.  I manage 2 patches in the Bristol area covering which equate to about 1500 hundred properties, including shelter schemes.

The work place culture is very pressurised and it's affecting staff and the way we work, which s not good.  We are (in my opinion) moving away from our customer focus, which is very frustrating, and we're not (in my opinion) meeting their needs, which is a shame.

The hardest part of the job, is not being effective, which disheartens me and many of my colleagues who have been doing this job for many years.  I know changes are inevitable and I'm all for moving forward (New Ways Of Working), but the lack of consultation / communication to staff from Senior Management is non existent.

The most enjoyable thing about my job is meeting with people, face to face work.  Meeting with vulnerable people and assisting them with their needs, and modifying their expectations if necessary.  I don;t believe in making false promises and / or appeasing people for the sake of it because experience has told me that it does not work.

My criticism is the workplace culture.  Management is weak and has no backbone.  Not interested in staff whatsoever only covering their own back.  Willing to lie as necessary to protect themselves and very dishonest.  They fail to deal with bad behaviour amongst their own kind (supervisor) and management stick together and lie accordingly to protect each other.   Even lie to Personnel if necessary to cover their own failings when failed to deal with problem straightaway, even when witnessed. When Personnel asked why not dealt with straightaway at meeting, manager replied that  I had asked them not to and keep confidential.  Even forge sickness record and lie about why someone absent eg put down stress (not work related) when indeed it was work related!
          
This happened to me in Housing Planned Programmes.   I returned to work on the first occasion but happened again later on as problem with supervisor not resolved.   Out with work related stress again and unable to return this time as all trust destroyed by management.  I was dismissed (after over 20 years service!),

Worked for a team of six.  When other Unit Co-ordinators were on holiday/sick then we would be asked to cover for them too.  There were nine teams of six.   I worked full time in one team before transferring to a job share position on part time hours.  I enjoyed speaking to people on the phone, in person and dealing with enquires from outside and within the office.  I was known as the oracle due to the knowledge I had gained over the years working for Children's Services.  I love typing, dealing with emails, scanning, attaching documents to database, learning new things on database, creating chronologies and genograms for families.  

Service Manager was good, always made an appearance in the office  at least once a day (if note twice).  If there was a crisis in the office then he would be there to help and support and give the right advice when needed and dealing with a tight budget too.   He can also be contacted at the end of the phone and he would ring into the office straight after a meeting to catch up.

Recovering rent arrears and other incomes from tenancies giving appropriate advice and guidance to tenants in respect of rent and other tenancy charges and debts in line with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
Providing an empathetic, customer focused response to all general enquiries to the rent management service and team.
Dealing with telephone calls and other enquires about rent management services and individual rent accounts. Interviewing and corresponding with tenants and other customers in conjunction with the recovery of rent and other arrears and on occasion undertaking home visits and area office appointments where necessary.
Providing Housing Benefit, and other welfare benefits and money management advice to tenants in the process of recovering rent and other arrears liaising with appropriate colleagues and organisations as appropriate.

I set up after school club with the other members of staff. I love being part of a team.
One of us prepares the snack each day and we take it in turns to do the washing up & supervise the children inside & out.
I can't wait for the children to arrive, they are so full of energy and enthusiasm for the tables of fun that we have prepared for them.
I love working with the children because they have so many ideas and they help keep me young. 
I like supporting them in their education and do all i can to answer their questions.
I am good at supporting emotional/quiet children and the younger children usually come to me for support.
The hardest part of the job is saying good bye to them at the end of the day.
I have learnt that i am a natural at working with children.
My manager is very supportive and an excellent leader.

I start at 8.20, liaising with the teacher on the days activities. I then prepare the classroom for the children before they come in. Once in, I will take out and support a group of at least six children, during literacy and numeracy. I am a qualified first aider, so any injuries acquired are usually referred to me. During the afternoon, I assist with any activities if needed, or I do admin. My colleagues are very caring and supportive and I have been made to feel a valued member of staff during my time here. There are frequent opportunities for self improvement through courses, I take these up whenever possible. The management are very approachable and make themselves available to all staff. I honestly don't think there IS a hard part of the job, but the most enjoyable, is seeing the improvement in children,not just in their academic progress, but their wellbeing and life skills.

My day was organised by a time table of lessons and input needed.
During my time there i attended several courses including ones which gave me further qualifications.
Management was good and supportive. 
Members of staff worked as a team and shared knowledge and experience with one another,
Parents were always welcomed to support the school during fund raising events and productions,
The hardest, most challenging, part of the job was to ensure all sen children were allocated time to access intervention programmes without missing important subjects or breaks.
The most enjoyable part of the job was when an assessment showing progress was achieved and you know youve done a good job.

Worked for local authority 9 yrs plus in varied positions as bullying culture of management especially at service levels. Reverse sexism in the workplace evidenced by double standards by such management through actual male employees on equal basis preferring non opinionated individuals. Tokenistic cultural representation and existence of informal power networks with utilisation of performance management policies with over representation of such staff diversity. Attribution of blame culture and corrupt. Few good colleagues / managers against the norm supportive.
