I enjoyed the work environment and learned a lot about the railway which is an industry I did not previously know much about. Every day was different and kept me on my toes which was something I look for in a job.
The company did really well making me feel welcome and showing me the ropes with everything. 
The business is well run and management ran smoothly from day to day.
I never found anything too difficult with the job but there were definitely some challenging moments. I learnt how to deal with complaints face to face and over the telephone which was something I had no previous experience with.
All the staff members were so friendly and easily approachable. I gained a lot of confidence working with them as I was able to come out of my shell completely.

Monday and Tuesday entered Timesheets for payment
Tuesday - Run a report on Evision to check that operatives have not double shifted 
Wednesday Bacs Report sent by management
Thursday filing of timesheets and Wages Queries
Answering phones call relating to Timesheets submitted and wage queries.
Friday entering deductable items from next wage, such as Course attendance and Failed courses - PCN Charges on Company Vehicles
Reference letter charge
Friendly but unable to progress.
Every week was the same tasks and no room for improvement.

typical day at work would go to the yard and see what station you be working at that evening as this changed from night to night.once at site depending on what we was doing we unload the vans an have a staff briefing. 
management where easy to get along with an always showed me the right way to do things. 
working in gangs of up to 8 men it was allways easy working with different blokes everynight but overall got work done.
hardest part of the job was the hours 
the most enjoyable part of the job was seeing a completed site, weather it be re railling or demolition looking at the site once you finished knowing you was a part of that always felt good

A honest review on my experience to help others. I was with this company for over 5 years don't get me wrong it used to be good but they changed the management about 5 months ago and its has gone down hill I've left now and so has so many others due to the new management

Just saying this because want to help people that's thinking of getting a job with cleshar (I was a climber working on the vegatation side of things) I seriously wouldn't waste my time in working for them risky job and very dangerous and for that the pay is rubbish PLUS NEW MANAGEMENT has made it even worst you just make up the numbers with this company they don't care about you ur just a number witch is very sad to say

some staff are nice, i feel sorry for them working in there.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Don't even try to get a job in there, they use you to work very hard, the pay is rubbish, micro managing never seen before, and they can get rid of you just like that, some people in charge are very hostile and  horrible, rhudness, just avoid at any cost .

working culture is zero, nothing special

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
just work and work, than go home

If not training I work in an out of normal hours call centre.  What I have learned in the call centre is to address all who ring up with the utmost courtesy and either direct them to the interested department. I have learned how to be flexible, how to deal with rude, offhand behaviour, how to disarm aggressive behaviour.  I enjoy most of the co-workers at Cleshar.  Delivering courses to people who know very little English.  Watching people learn in the various different ways that they do it in.

I wouldn't even waste ur time getting work with these two faced idiots at cleshar rail. They don't look after the people that make this company work they promise u things then throughbit back in ur face. I would rather work for my old company that is worst but at least u could know when they lie. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR ENERGY ON THIS COMPANY THEY ARE rubbish rubbmoneyMMONEY

To protect myself from injury

After 11 years of watching my pay and conditions decline and experiencing the utter contempt for track workers I wouldn't suggest working here other than to just get experience and tickets and then move on.

In all my years in the company, I have been paying for my development in order to move to the top but all to no avail. I have extensive training in health and safety but cannot be given the opportunity to even shadow any health and safety personnel. Opportunity is very slim in cleshar.
