It can be fast paced when the patients come in and when you have to set the machines up, when you know what you're doing, it goes off without a hitch. However when things go wrong, for example, machine failures/faults, there are difficulties with cannulation or problems with CVC lines, it can hold you up, sometimes the patients are understanding and don't mind waiting, sometimes they can get impatient, you need a thick skin as you can't be 100% perfect every time. Once the patients are settled, it can be slow paced, depending on staffing levels you might be able to get your risk assessments completed, any medications done and any assessments that need completing with the patients. There are exceptions to it all be done even when staffing is low. Otherwise, an average company to work with. They aren't great but not bad, they except you to do mandatory training, but there's never any time in the day to do them and you don't get paid to do them in your own time. Pay is basic, it increases every year but not by much, overtime is basic pay.
Overall when there is staff and the machines are working, it's a nice place to work, workload can get overwhelming at times but the staff tend to work together to help each other, opportunities to learn about renal care and the patients are lovely.

Working at the Diaverum  is both rewarding and challenging. A typical day involves delivering high-quality care to patients, collaborating with skilled colleagues, and problem-solving under pressure. I have learned to enhance my communication, teamwork, and adaptability skills. The management is supportive, although the high demand can sometimes feel overwhelming. The workplace culture is inclusive and driven by a shared goal of improving patient outcomes. The hardest part of the job is managing workload during busy periods, but the most enjoyable part is seeing the positive impact of your efforts on patients’ lives. It’s a truly fulfilling environment.


Working day usually starts 06:30 by preparing machines for work, set up the lines,checking water,patient observation are they able for dialysis treatment,
Working with dialysis patients expanded my knowledge in renal care,
better communication,computer skills.
New for me was to learn buttonhole needling technique,monthly fistula assessment with transonic, working with new dialysis machine, complete internal competence in practice training.Yearly updating ILS training.
This job required high responsibility and attention all the time, witch I like and taking like a big trust between me and employer.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Free tea and biscuits and cheap parking. If you can find find a space.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Very little to no support during probationary period. Very heavy. Cliques. Passive bullying from certain members of staff, trained and non trained.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The company itself seems to be ok, but is often late with salary payments.
Can be very social. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy, hot, and heavy. Hours can be long, though you do get paid overtime. Personally I think this is abused.

Wonderful team to work with. The job can be physically (and emotionally) demanding but the job satisfaction makes it worth while. Lots to learn, such as phlebotomy. Can progress from HCA to a Dialysis Assistant when roles become available. As a DA you are doing the same role as the nurses, apart from anything medication-related. So you connect, monitor and disconnect patients from dialysis machines. Usual HCA job role applies, apart from there is very little personal care as most patients are independent and self-caring. I have loved this job from the day I started. Don’t get me wrong, some days are stressful. But there’s always someone to have a rant with!

The staff, a very small group of extremely cliquey and toxic people who would go out of their way to exclude you if you didn't fit in with them

Toxic, hostile, uncomfortable,  I left in tears most days

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Emotionally draining,  I dreaded waking up to go to work and could not wait for the day to end

Unfair payment and excess working load for employees. From 6am to 11pm montay to Saturday. 8.5h to 12.5h working shifts: 6am to 2:30pm/6:30pm or 10:30am/2:30pm to 11:00pm. Salary annual reviews are almost nothing. They give transport allowance per month, but after tax you remain with less than the basic salary. 

Well I never actually started work here but I was accepted for a position and everyone seemed friendly however the recruitment process was soooo long winded and the pay is just abit of an insult really seeing as other dialysis rolls for NHS pay more and in general if your on your feet all day long being someone's skivvy you expect to be paid an ok wage not just above min wage. Because they expect you to jump through several hoops like get blood tests see occupational health before even starting I have up and was offered work elsewhere.

Worked so hard - nothing you did was enough! Too much work to do - heavily criticised if things not done. Management very clicky! Nurses - hard working but not as friendly as they could be - probably because they were under so much pressure. HCAs - worked very hard - not appreciated and bullied by nursing staff! Too much lifting and shifting - no support.

Working within a team of nice people and having the pleasure to help the patients

Early starts are hard to get used to
