Unfortunately this charity has some structural shortcomings as a result of receiving a large amount of funding via gamble aware 2020-2023 which created many new jobs.

This has left some roles poorly managed and with no set working patterns and standards which would exist in places which have existed longer. There is little opportunity for progression and career development in this role.

With the withdrawal of industry funding from GambleAware in the wake of the gambling white paper in 2024, GamCare's funding has collapsed and there is currently very poor job security.  

if you want to spend your time supporting clients via a screen, then it is the place for you  !!!!!
if you like non stop can not move away from your computer without another box to tick , then it is the place for you !!!
I have never been so demoralised by the amount of module this module that on a scale of 1-20....
dire, staff are ok, but have no idea that there is another world/way in which to support those in need that is not directed by feeding into an algorithm, alas !!! Me i was gone within the month, lucky gotta job elswhere which was also dire, since then found another job which i love. seek an ye will find...

If you value your work - life balance then do not work here!!

The work we do is supposed to be helping people that have gambling problems, yet it feels like we are a crisis service for people and are supposed to provide solutions for every problem everyone is experiencing.

The number of hours I feel is a lie. You're constantly logging off late and are working late, you have very little control over your own caseload .

Very demoralising, looking for a way out.

I've been at Gamcare for 4 years now and have progressed quickly from practitioner to manager, it has been a great learning experience and Gamcare has been investing a lot in their staff for career development. The team is really friendly and supportive. The organisation has been growing so much so it has been a challenging time to adjust but a lot of support is given to staff. I have never found such a supportive place to work until I came here! Defitniely recommend :)

I had a nice time working at GamCare, I loved my team and my manager was amazing. Some tricky parts were the case management system (outdated and not fit for purpose) and as always with charity jobs that are funding dependent, meeting targets etc was a pressure that didn't feel good. In general the company were pretty hot on staff wellbeing and mental health

Extremely well funded (by the gambling industry) loads of senior and middle management, managing upwards. Leaving the front line workers supporting the services users with minimal resources.  Lack of innovation or thought towards client outcomes just another KPI driven "charity" . 

I am a newbie to Gamcare - 3 weeks in, but so far so good. 
I have received training and involved in developing my role from day one.
Inclusive and supportive management and team and genuinely a positive and diverse work culture.

The service is developing in strides and am excited to be involved.

Management don't care about staff. Very high staff turnover. Shift pattern difficult to maintain, no work life balance. Poor pay for level of job responsibilities.
