A typical day at work in the kitchen (pot wash, patient meals, stores, restaurant, etc.) is spent fretting and having to put with rude and unreasonable co-workers, supervisors and managers. 
I learned to keep quiet and in defense mode, and not to trust anyone. Employees on an old contract treat new employees (agency staff or new contracted staff) like scum. Supervisors and managers change the rotas without telling the employees way in advance. It's really annoying. 
The supervisors and managers get paid a lot of money and should work alongside the kitchen staff instead of ordering around and not doing anything productive to actually help their understaffed teams. Needless tp say that the supervisors and managers on duty have no people skills. The disciplinary action is rarely taken against employees that misbehave towards hardworking employees, and the victims of abuse are barely protected and reassured. Plus some employees go off sick more months and even years, and get paid for sick pay all that time unchecked whilst all the other employees have to work hard in the catering department.  
The hardest part of the job is knowing that not everyone works up to the same standard (pot wash, patient meals, stores, restaurant, etc). Only a few employees give it their all and help out whenever possible. 
It was by far my worst work experience ever. I do not recommend anyone joining the teams in the Catering department. 
The enjoyable part of the job is caring for others and doing one's best to make light work bearing in mind the needs of patients that are admitted to Gloucester Royal Hospital. Providing support for the wards and nurses was very rewarding. Knowing that your work makes a difference and enhances the patients experience whilst admitted to a ward is a good feeling. Caring for others is a duty of all members of staff across the NHS hospitals. 

Without a doubt the worst employer I've had the misfortune to work with. Leadership is non existant, culture of nepotism and backscratching, recruitment of personal friends, managers making up jobs for their kids. Dishonesty and cliques are rife. 
Proliferation of Directors, too many chiefs and not enough people actually doing the work, managers permanently on meetings to avoid the day to day work. 
Delapidated facilities that smell as soon as you walk in the door, building has not been decorated or refurbished sicne it was opened in the 90's.
Colleagues with poor personal hygiene and smell like farm animals, IT equipment is a laughing stock, heating on full blast in the summer but switched off in the winter. 
Culture of working from home to the point little work gets done, people regulary going offline during work hours. 
Work is dumped on anyone unfortunate to take a job here.

For the most part, no two days are exactly the same due to the development and evolving nature of my work as a project manager.

In my current role, I am working on the development of a new innovative web based video  training resource for 8,00 staff. This has taught me how to build a warm relationship with individuals and get them to do things that they would be typical to shy to get involved with.

I manage a small team of designers and develop the product in conjunction with clinical and non-clinical co-workers. 

The hardest part of the job is learning to wait for busy clinical staff to fit in with my schedule. 

The most enjoyable part of the job is working with a wide range of people who are enthusiastic about the product that I am building.

The Trust extol their kind, compassionate and empathetic leadership and perceptibly they are. However the Trust has been found lacking in many reports/audits where staff have tried to speak up to raise awareness of patient safety or cultural or behavioural problems affecting staff, only to be dismissed or unsupported in resolving them. Worse still, the Trust has singled staff out as ‘problematic’ where they have tried to raise concerns. Ultimately some of those staff have been marginalised. 

Management accept and tolerate poor behaviours. Staff have a lack of trust in managers and are fearful of speaking up and staff who do raise concerns are not always supported or treated with respect.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part about working for the NHS was the job security that it gave. The NHS 🏡 is not going anywhere, it has the history and the resources needed to give a sense of future security.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part about working for the NHS is the on boarding process. The referencing the DBS checks the induction et cetera takes way longer than any other company I have ever worked for in my life.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The NHS have a very strong culture and vision, but it can be at times difficult for the grand vision to be seen at a day-to-day level.

What is the best part of working at the company?
There is no best part of working for the NHS 30 years service and bullied with no support what so ever. Was promised support and help but absolutely nothing

When management do nothing to support staff

Bullying is rife 
If you go by the book it’s simply ignored so if you are happy to do wrong doing you will fit in perfectly 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It was dreadful with anxiety  stressed to the high levels I would never recommend working for the NHS

Usually working short staffed with high demands on individuals. The rota system is unfair and hard to cope with.
It's very difficult to get time off. 
Management are very unsupportive of individuals and staff generally feel like initials on rotas.
Very high turnover of staff due to lack of progression opportunities.
The trust in general has very low morale at the moment. However, the front line staff are great.

Doing the breakfast then washing up then doing the meals from menus for lunch then making salads and sandwiches for tea time staff and making sure that they have hot food for tea time all off menu washing up from lunch and then making sure the kitchen is clean I have learned how to deal with patients needs and diet I find the management very fair at all times I get on really well with my co-workers we try to make it a happy place for the patients I can't say that there is a hard part to my job really for I enjoy it

Expected to operate well above role and pay grade
Working with people who have very questionable qualifications
Working with agency staff who have forged documentation unchecked by HR
Harassment from co-workers not handled by management, encouraged to talk it out with perpetrator 
Very little room to execute duties, 11+ people crammed into offices meant for 3 people
Lots of staff, but no teamwork
Ego driven leadership, no LEAN management
Promotions given to those friendly with people at the top

A typical day at work will be stressful, emotional at times usually rewarding, I work with a fantastic team and our department managers are for the most supportive and helpful. The hardest part of my job is dealing with patients or relatives that can be very difficult sometimes due to long waits, which is understandable. The enjoyable parts are sending people back home with a clear diagnosis and plan for their treatment, after a successful visit to A and E.
