I have worked for this company for almost a year,  and although it was a change from what I was used to, it's a change I'm pleased I made. The training was really good and youre paid for those hours too, even the e-learning. 

The service user is lovely, sometimes challenging but that's why we're there and the manager is amazing, always looking out for her staff and always offering support. The regional manager is great too, actually cares about the staff and service users,  and they visit regularly  too which is something I've not experienced with any other company. 

The deciding factor for my applying to work for this company was their STOMP &  STAMP policy.  Look it up, it's exactly what I was looking for when I decided to leave my old job, after seeing patients being clinically and physically restrained when I knew there were other ways to support them. 

The hardest part of the job is the challenging behaviour, however, incidents are few and far between these days. We have them in a much better place than they were before we started working with them, which is the best and most rewarding part of the job....seeing them progress and living their best, independent,  person centred life. 

Work life balance is good, 12 hour shifts so you only work 3 days a week on a full time contract. 

Good annual leave allowance calculated in hours not days which is even better. 

Huge pro to working here, we are well paid for our work,  and we get paid weekly. There is also room for progression within the company, and better still, you're encouraged do so. 

A typical day at Home Not Hospital in Carlisle involves providing one-to-one support to individuals with complex needs, focusing on daily living skills, personal care, and community access. I learned a great deal about person-centred care, managing challenging behaviours, and promoting independence while maintaining dignity and safety. Management are generally approachable and supportive, particularly when guidance is needed during shifts, although communication can sometimes be improved due to the fast-paced nature of the service. The workplace culture is caring and team-focused, with staff supporting one another to ensure continuity of care. The hardest part of the job is managing emotionally demanding situations and adapting to changing needs, especially during challenging behaviours. The most enjoyable part is building trusting relationships with individuals and seeing positive progress in their confidence, independence, and overall wellbeing.

A typical day in a care role involves supporting clients with their daily routines, such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration, and companionship. Each day varies depending on the needs of the individuals, which keeps the job dynamic and engaging. There’s also a lot of documentation and communication with healthcare professionals or family members. This role has taught me the importance of empathy, patience, and resilience. I’ve developed strong interpersonal skills and learned how to handle sensitive situations with dignity and respect. It also gave me valuable experience in time management and responding to emergencies calmly and effectively. They made efforts to ensure staff felt valued and were always available when issues arose. Regular team meetings and training sessions helped keep everyone up to date and involved in the care process. The most rewarding part is making a real difference in someone’s life. Building relationships with clients and seeing the positive impact of your care is incredibly fulfilling. Small moments of gratitude from those you help can mean the world and make the tough days worthwhile.

This company only cares about themselves not their workers or the packages they run. They expect you to go above and beyond doing shifts a lot longer than you anticipated to do with no gratitude just expectation to do it again when staff don’t show up. Communication is non existent, when communication does happen it’s just a blame game from management to staff. That is not healthy. Management lie to staff and service users causing much upset and breaking in relationship that has been built. The money may sound good but you are better off going somewhere that pays a bit less but will appreciate you so much more. This company should be ashamed of the way they handle situations and treat their staff. 
Even after an incident with a service user you won’t be debriefed or if you are it’s how could you have done better in your job making you feel bad something happened that was out of your control. It’s a gossip work place that focuses more on chatting behind each others backs than dealing with situations that will benefit the service user and staff. Avoid!!!!

My role as a Healthcare Assistant involves dedicated care for one individual. My day revolves around ensuring their well-being, from administering treatments to offering emotional support.

Over the past 4 months, I've honed my skills in specialised care. The training package provided has been comprehensive, equipping me to excel in my role.

Management is highly supportive, involving me in the decision-making process for the care package tailored to the individual I look after. This collaborative approach has been empowering.

The culture at LDA Care is welcoming and progressive, with a modern approach to mental healthcare that I find refreshing.

The emotional investment in the well-being of a single individual can be intense, but the supportive environment helps me navigate this aspect of my job.

The work-life balance is commendable, and the pay is competitive. The availability of overtime allows me to be flexible with my schedule and earnings.

A typical day at is to carry out the day to day activities required for the service user. Supporting the service user with day to day living and supporting them with daily tasks such as: personal care, learning and development, cooking and hobbies. This role includes teamwork and lots of vital responsibilities.
I have learned new skills in social situations and become more of a team player. My organization skills have improved and being able to manage vital responsibilities to look after service user.
Management ensured the someone in their difficult moment is supported through recovery program.
Workplace culture is peaceful and welcoming. There is a mixed culture.
The hardest part of the job is you can not predict what any day hold until the job is done for that day.
The most enjoyable part of the job is having the feeling that you are making a real positive difference to people by helping them to live the life they choose as independently as possible

Home Not Hospital is a positive organisation to work for, offering a well-structured, balanced, and efficient working environment. The Dunstable package is particularly well managed, under the leadership of an exceptional manager, Maggie, whose professionalism and support contribute greatly to team performance. While the company has many strengths, there remains an opportunity to enhance employee pay rates, benefits, and overall compensation to better reflect the value of its workforce.

Management do nothing but lie. This includes the PBS practitioners. Constant lies and constantly tripping themselves up on their lies. When you call a manager out on their failings it gets turned into the low workers. Struggle to get staff and maintain staff. Maybe management should look at themselves and work out they’re the problems. They don’t just lie to workers either. Poor families who are trusting their loved ones with the company are lied to as well. You don’t get compensated for travelling if you’re a support worker who goes out of their way. Management can sit and eat 2-3 fast food meals a day though and get reimbursed. Wages constantly wrong. You never know if you’re going to get to go home at the end of your shift because 5 times out of 10 the next shift doesn’t show up, yet they still keep their jobs. No perks to the job at all. Not even a thank you or a selection box at Christmas. Management got a big Christmas party though 

A typical day at work is busy but rewarding, often involving multitasking and adapting to unexpected challenges. I've learned to stay calm under pressure, communicate effectively, and be more empathetic. Management is supportive and approachable, which helps build confidence. The workplace culture is generally positive and team-oriented, with a shared focus on the well-being of those we care for. The hardest part of the job is managing emotionally intense situations, especially when working with vulnerable individuals. However, the most enjoyable part is seeing the positive impact we make in people’s lives watching them grow, improve, or simply smile makes everything worthwhile.

This company is poorly managed. There is a horrendous amount of blame culture during debriefing that added to the extreme level of trauma that this job In tails. Management don’t listen to staff and it feels that “your damned if you do and your damned if you don’t”. Although the money is good it does not match the high levels of stress and trauma the staff see day to day and when asking for staff support staff were told “that’s why we pay you a high rate”. However, the staff of the ground are all people that truly care for the clients and fellow staff. Staff have learned that where management lack empathy, their colleagues will support. I feel I would never recommend this company to anyone due to the above statements and I would actually strongly discourage people away from the company.
