Employed as the Technical Manager of Hafren Theatre, Newtown Campus, NPTC Group. This company should be avoided at all costs as there is a complete lack of organisation, a feeble attempt by management to micro-manage a business they know absolutely nothing about logistically. The Theatre is managed in the same way as a local village hall, of which management have a total disrespect for employees, accompanying policies, procedures and legal obligations. 

It is heavily reliant on the support and direction of local community members who have nothing to do with NPTC Group, perhaps more significantly it should be noted that the ‘community members’ are friends and business acquaintances of Hafren Theatre Management. 

Hours are undefined and can often change depending on wind direction, resulting in a last minute event, performance  etc can change in respect to date, time and duration... a complete disregard to work/ life balance. Incompetent organisational abilities and Failure in communication is often the result of the shortfalls of this company. 

You will be used as a scapegoat to avoid any repercussions that illustrate the failings and neglect of responsibilities by Management and executive board. The company will go to every effort to avoid their responsibilities rather than accept their failures and correct the REAL problems and issues, as evidenced by other reviews giving only 1 star titled “Avoid Avoid Avoid”... a true and accurate representation of NPTC Group. 

The improvements need to be made at the top down, learn to listen and respond through the appropriate procedures, company codes of conduct and values should represent ALL employees and must be applied equally and fairly.

High staff turnaround should be obvious warning sign to any prospective employee. This is not a place you will want to work for long. You will be lied to in the interview to make the job more appealing.

Advice to Management

Stop delegating and ignoring problems hoping they will go away. I have never seen such poor management, I am genuinely in amazement at how the college functions. The only conclusion I can come to is it's down to the hard work of the staff, despite such a poor management system. I notice other reviews speak highly of the north campuses. My experience was with south campuses.

I have never worked in such a toxic environment as NPTC.the only good side is the students but colleagues are back stabbers and those who are not capable of carrying out a good job suck up to management.
Those who speak up for themselves and for the students are dealt with strictly and more often than not given unworkable hours which frustrates and then they are accused of misconduct and suspended. This has happened many times in the past five years and those still working at NPTC are either management scrapers or afraid to speak up.

I joined the Group on a temporary contract with an agency. I was made to feel at home quicker than in any other job I have had. I was mentored by an experienced member of staff who helped me find my feet. With many sites and working procedures to navigate they were integral to my success at the College. I have since been lucky enough to have my contract made permanent. 

The College have provided a great opportunity to access development courses to help me further my skills. 

Worked at the College via an agency in a receptionist role and enjoyed it so much I applied for a permanent role within the College.  People are friendly and helpful in getting me settled. Work is varied and enjoy the interaction with students aswell as staff.  Feel included and have formed good relationships on both personal and professional levels.  Pay is fair and the leave is fantastic particularly over a Christmas period I have never encountered in other companies.  

I have been an employee for over 15 years and the College have supported me with my own personal and career development. They offer regular training and courses to enable staff to perform their role. I have been supported through HR with personal difficulties with such a high level of professionalism. I love working for NPTC Group and enjoy going to work.

An awful culture. My industry knowledge simply disappeared as it was never used. Other staff members would hold access to systems and stifle development. Too many utterly lazy IT fiddlers who had no idea what they were doing. Messing all the systems up. Dissorganized systems. Stores of equipment piled high. No training, no hope. Dreadful management at all levels. Cost cutting culture

My typical day is varied, I have contact with staff, students, parents and employers.
My employers encourage CPD some of which is compulsory.
I enjoy the variety and get on well with all the staff building excellent working relationships.

Develop greater links with other agencies to develop Sport and Physical Activity for college students and staff on or off site. Deliver Physical Activity to special populations and underrepresented groups. Providing students and staff with opportunities to deliver, up-skill and volunteer

Poor /toxic/bullying Management full of nepotism .    Lack of support from management and HR.  
NO Respect and fairness.
NO Trust and integrity.
Lack of Communication and transparency.
Leadership that hasn't kept their word and given jobs 'through the back door'
