I signed up originally for Metal working, but was switched to assembly a week or so in. I was told barely anything and was put on jobs before being told that I was actually to work somewhere else once I was comfortable doing one thing. 

They do not have the patience to handle new staff, perhaps because they have the ability to hire new people as quick as anything. 

I was trained for one day, then on the second shift (on the 4th job I was assigned to) I was told to work ‘at a normal pace’ despite being told by other people that they don’t expect new staff to get to standard speed immediately. 

I was able to speak up about this, and they said that I am not expected to get up to speed this fast- but it felt like that pressure and expectation never really went away. With how they acted afterwards, I do not think they did.

I do not want to come across that Numatics was entirely in the wrong. I was not able to work at the speed they desired which a high volume place would desire, and I am an incredibly stressed person, so to lay the blame entirely at their feet would be unfair. I do not want this experience to be passed off as ‘disgruntled ex employee upset and unable to recognise own faults.’ I recognise that I am not perfect, that I was new to the job. 
But I was new to the job. It was their job to help me reach what they wanted of me. I feel like more often than not they only pushed me further down.

I was there for around three months, in which I had 3 probation meetings. While I was slowly improving, it was not enough for them, and the probation meetings made that very clear. 

They were not happy with my performance, but did not do anything to assist. I asked for further training in one meeting, which I had also asked on a hand in sheet I was asked to fill in- which was lost by them: I did not receive this training, instead being taken off the slower (training) line and put to the faster line- although the higher ups wanted to make it clear it was not a ‘slow line’ and ‘fast line’

This was incredibly stressful, and I was still constantly being moved around to other jobs because of part shortages (which I will not blame them for.) 

Communication is incredibly poor from those that it cannot be poor from.

I eventually had to take a sick leave due to the stress. Though I will say it was partially due to outside situations, it was mostly due to the treatment and pressures.

The mental health and hr team handled it brilliantly, and were able to handle it well at first. But then I had to take another, coming back only to go back on due to continued inability to meet expectations that honestly felt impossible to meet. 

I won’t fault them for struggling to handle this. I was a new staff member and was taking more time off than I wanted. I’m sure they weren’t pleased, maybe they thought I was abusing their system- I was certainly worried they felt that way.
The way they reacted though, was appalling.

I got an email confirming the sick note had been taken, immediatly followed by an email requesting my presence for what would become my final probation meeting- during my sick note time. I was thus unable to handle myself due to the further stress until the meeting itself. I don’t think I’ve ever felt as stressed as I had that day ever before.

 I was able to talk to a lovely union member who was disgusted to hear what had happened, and was kind enough to join me in the meeting.

I honestly don’t think I would have been able to do it otherwise. The probation meeting, which was supposed to be about my performance, only covered the fact that I was A: incredibly stressed and that B: that was not okay. No issues related to work was brought up, simply that I was too stressed. 

This final meeting was with someone above the head I had spoken with for the two prior, and if I’m being blunt he is not able to hold himself in the attitude the meeting required. He seemed quite old in mindset, and I understand it is hard to change that, but it was not okay for his position. He was incredibly disrespectful and I ended up calling the meeting through halfway to quit. It was incredibly disgusting as me, people I know who work there, the people I worked with for the short time and the union rep all said they’ve never seen anything like it before.


All in all, the only people who were a problem were the people who can’t be a problem for a good work environment. Fellow workers, hr and advisors, union are all lovely- but anyone higher up is completely unsympathetic and unwilling to work with what they view as a cog in the machine. Truthfully, I struggle to imagine giving Numatics another chance. The people in charge as far as I was unlucky enough to see are people you cannot have faith in as your superiors. 

What went through my mind before I left for the final time was this. If I stay, and I continue to try but something happens again… can I trust these people to handle it. The answer I came to was: not a chance. Quitting was incredibly hard to do, but the relief I felt was unlike anything I have ever felt before.

I hope to never have to feel that low again. Thank you for reading, and I apologise for how long this became.

What used to be a great place to work is now a playground for senior managers and other managers who got their jobs because they worked there for ages or knew someone who had any power in making employment decisions. Some of them get paid criminal amounts of money for doing nothing or finding any reason to do nothing. Some of them have such inflated egos and showing everyone how important and powerful they are. Nobody is interested is sorting out problems because if they pretend there aren’t any then everything is perfect. The gap between shop floor staff(including managers and supervisors) and all the important people above is getting bigger and bigger. There are still some good people keeping the company alive but eventually they will leave and then Numatic will become a shell of the company it used to be. Let’s face it, it’s becoming more difficult to find people who want to work on terms Numatic offers but also the company allows “dead wood” to do nothing. Working hard is not rewarded, it gives you more to do because if you show that you can do something you will either get more to do or you’ll face so many obstacles that eventually you’ll give up. Thinking is not what they look for. I only gave more than 1 because there are still people that I enjoy working with, they still care and, despite what others are trying to do to kill the spirit, we keep going. It won’t be forever though. If the “leaders” push the loyal people to the point that they don’t care anymore, then eventually there will be nobody who will work to inflate their already inflated wages. Or maybe all of that is done purposely to destroy the company and sell it for nothing in pieces?

I started in a new department called the Customer Engagement Team which essentially involved all aspects of Account Management for accounts that spent less than 10k in x amount of years. 

The job then changed as the manager himself seemed to change his mind constantly and the job changed to be mainly order processing. 

The manager of the Customer Care Centre unfortunately has very poor skills in maintaining any direction, within a few months I had moved desks 5 times which sounds petty but confirms how little direction the customer care centre has. 

It can be a very sour environment at times while managers/supervisors bad mouth people behind their backs and there is a very bad culture of injustice with how people are treated differently, most employees within the team are very unhappy due to the poor management. 

during my short time at the company I produced the best sales ph record however was dismissed during my probation as i had 2 occasions of sickness in 2019 (both certified by the doctor) and informed I had had to much time off (INCLUDING HOLIDAY) I will be seeking legal advice as I believe I have been at the end of discrimination for reasons I will not post on here but a word of warning for anyone thinking of applying.

decent money and hours but if you want stability and leadership then stay well clear and do not make the same mistake I did.

I found my job at Numatics good because it enabled me to learn new skills and work in a different environment. I also enjoyed working there because of the work schedule. We had a 12 hour shift from 06:00 to 18:00 for 4 days and then had 4 days to spend with our families. The shift then changed so we had 12 hour shifts from 18:00 to 06:00. This went in a cycle and was our work schedule. I found this time table good when i had the daytime shift as it enabled me to spend time with my family also it was a busy time therefore the time went by really quickly, whereas when i was on the night shift it wasn't as great. It wasn't as busy on the night shift so i wasn't as active. Working at night meant i had to choose whether to rest the next day before my next shift and not really see my friends and family or be really tired and see them all.

Overall, my opinion of the job was that it was a great workplace as it  had a safe environment to work in and all the other colleges were easy to get along with. I just dont think the job was suitable for me as the time table didn't work well with me and i couldn't show my full potential.

I work as a junior designer at Numatic and it is an amazing opportunity for graduates with limited experience. The pay for graduates here is amongst the top you will find for graduate design roles, and considering how inexpensive the cost of living is in chard you feel like you have plenty of money!

In terms of the job the workload does fluctuate quite a bit. Some days you will have very little to do and have to ask around for work, whereas other days you will feel like you have more work than you can handle.

The role has a very clear career progression, with most graduates being guaranteed to be promoted to designer after the 2 year course.

The other designers in the office are very knowledgeable, but also quite busy so they can sometimes have limited time to be able to give over to the grads but  they do their best.

Overall I can highly recommend the graduate design role here. There's a few quirks that I would change but honestly cant complain. 9/10



If you end up on one of their assembly lines, honestly, do not waste your time with this employer.  I joined after attending an open day, the interview process was very relaxed and anyone could of walked in off the street and got a job that day, which i think shows how desperate they were for staff.  Unfortunately i only lasted about 3 weeks with them before they ''let me go'' after i injured my back one weekend to the point i could not walk or stand.   There was no sympathy from them and they did not offer any lighter duties etc, which shows how little they care about their staff.   Its a very clicky, lonely and miserable environment, doing the same thing over and over again, which is bad for your mental health.  Team leaders were fine and happy to help, but my manager who i had never met (who made the decision to let me go) doesn't even acknowledge you.  Avoid!

I was super excited to work here after taking an interest in a different part of the business, I couldn’t wait to get stuck in. 
THAT CHANGED. 
The job was amazing! There was a fair share of people who were easy to talk to etc…  the management is a different story. Now I’m not tarnishing all managers at Numatic like this one,  but what I encountered in my time under him was the worst I have ever been treated in any
Professional setting.  Using swear words on an every day basis, being put down, being made to feel i couldn't  survive outside of Numatic, indirect comments, discussing confidential information about other team members the list goes on. 

A useless HR team, but great Union! 

Numatic could be great place to work if they read between the lines and looked after the employees at the bottom! 

Since cleaning warehouses in 2012, I have been through various exciting roles within Numatic, giving me a truly unique experience of what UK manufacturing looks like.  From there I transitioned into the office learning to master customer service whilst looking after engineers all over the UK.  I put the work in, and I'm loving the journey. But there was a time during these 14 years when all my chips were down in my personal life, and I was at my worst...  my colleagues and management around me provided care and full support, helping me back on my feet, enabling me to come back to my 100% self.  I'm now in product management, where I get the chance to see customers all over the world, bringing new product ideas to reality.  The teams I work with are incredible and I'm privileged to be in this company.

I’ve not had any issues here even though I’ve seen so many negative comments I can say from my experience that as long as you get the work done meet targets you’re all fine sometimes you can’t meet targets because of mechanical issues but that’s normally solved in five minutes and the line management are fair if hood have issues with mental health there talk to you and hide you through you’re problems there a good company I’d ignore so many peoples reviews i say you can hack it or you can’t but I’ve worked in far worse places if you’re open and honest with them there fair with you but if you say nothing they can’t help it’s as simple as that my line management has been more then fair with working with my issues I can’t fault them 

When I first started working at Numatic International everyone there was really nice and respectful made a lot of friends while working definitely build up ur speed but throughout working there the management was quite rude to me and my mates that started working their at the same time spoke to us with a sarcastic tone. The first month of working there they were lovely and sweet but when it hit the 2-3 month mark they would make comments on small mistakes u do and lie to people faces to make them relax before being fired. I'd admit I miss working there as it was a good pay rate but they need to find managers that aren't liars nor rude to employees!!!!!
