An extremely busy and varied day.  Working under great pressure with ever increasing hours due to staffing issues.  The consultants were very supportive and always keen to explain patient procedures, giving me an opportunity to learn all about the different eye conditions. Issues surrounding extremely long hours plus weekends and open evenings.  No work/life balance with continuous  issues that were not well supported or addressed.. The situation caused me to take a step back and re-evaluate what I would like to be doing in the future.

I enjoyed the interaction with Patients, Consultants and third parties and the communication between the Patient Liaison and Clinical staff. Great job satisfaction when I saw the patient through from initial referral to post procedure/s, sometimes having to deal with very sensitive & personal issues with their Private Medical Companies on behalf of the Patients.

Hardest part of role was having to chase outstanding debts with very elderly patients when they had not understood that their Private Medical Insurance would not pay their total costs and the PMI had not explained anything to their customer.

Considering so many people have left since i started including previous managers says it all. Management/supervisor delegation is poor, workload too heavy as its both call centre based as well as admin. They give you so much admin work but every 2 mins you need to be on the phone and then have a go when either isnt to a high standard. Not enough time to do both but they expect you to do both in equal amount of time. If your face fits you will get the flexi time part at home and in the office and you will be treated with kindness. If you have any medical problems mentally or physically  then this won't be the job for you as they don't take that into consideration with the quantity of work they throw at you and will make your life unbearable if you need time out from the stress of your workload.  Very much a school playground management/supervisors talk about you behind your back or share your personal reasons why you maybe absent to the rest of the office. Your not allowed to have an opinion on how you or any of your colleagues are being treated if you do then you get shut down by management. No work/life balance. Only positive is there's plenty of overtime. 

Management from higher up seemed nice at first but soon turned to be patronising and stopped talking to low level staff as though we weren’t important enough. As management travelled from further afield to visit the site, the office was taken over for days on end and I was forced to work in different treatment rooms that weren’t being used. The admin team at the contact centres were being told completely different things to us. The booking system was an absolute joke resulting in some very upset patients. I was asked to move into a supervisor role with no pay rise. Lots of lies were told and a huge number of patient lists were cancelled to accommodate NHS contracts that made the company more money.

I really value being part of a strong successful team and a leadership that genuinely cares about employee growth and wellbeing. I also appreciate having collaborative and supportive colleagues who make work enjoyable every day. The business provides a clear vision and direction, and I feel there are always opportunities to contribute meaningfully. Flexible work arrangements make it possible to maintain a healthy work–life balance, and the continuous investment in training and development makes it easy to keep learning and upskilling.

Management haven't a clue when it comes down to duty of care for their workforce. Very toxic atmosphere allowing troublesome staff to get away with wrong doings. Allow certain staff to manipulate their standing in the company. Only god given grace is that some members of staff were around to talk to.
Management very much into corporate and it is a yes culture and how high do you want me to jump. 
Glad I left when I did as staff were getting pulled down, praise for a good job was limited. 
Would not recommend this branch to work with, cannot judge other branches.

 Optegra is a Px centric eyecare provider. Great facilities, technology, high standards of care and expertise, investing and innovating for further improvements. They are open to suggestions and ideas from any one interested to contribute. Clinics are busy, challenging at times to keep good timing. Love to see how amazing our patients are doing with great outcomes. If recovery doesn't go to plan (medical procedures are not risk free, albeit excellent due diligence and consultants),  patient will receive bespoke care until we get back on track.

Fantastic to work with such positive and inspirational people who are driven to achieve great things for the business and ensuring our focus on the care and experience of our patients.  Leadership is hugely supportive of individuals.  A small company means things move quickly, no bureaucracy.  A great opportunity to make a real contribution to what the business does and develop personally and professionally.  

I have found working at Optegra to be rewarding it has truly been one of the best companies I've worked for. I believe the organisation aligns closely with its mission and values. The leadership is genuinely supportive, and the hybrid working model offers great flexibility, which contributes to a healthy work-life balance. However,   NHS contract changes have introduced some strategic uncertainty, which can affect long-term planning.


Optegra was a good place to work several years ago, but recent changes have significantly damaged the culture. 

Management is unsupportive and often appears to play internal politics for their own benefit, leaving staff feeling undermined and inadequate rather than supported. There is little psychological safety — raising concerns or speaking up can quickly put your role at risk.

Cliques dominate the workplace, and transparency is lacking. Overall, it’s a disappointing decline from what was once a positive organization.
