Culture has changed negatively since merger, used to be a lot more relaxed and focused on quality not quantity. Feel like there's not much support for customer service staff who've been working throughout pandemic dealing with increasingly frustrated residents who take it out on the call handlers. Expected to be a one stop shop who deals with a call within 10 minutes. Increasing pressure to quickly take calls.

Other departments can take months to respond to simple queries, and can become very snippy when being chased for responses. Sometimes feels like the contact centre is taking all of the heat for the poor performance of other departments. 

Contract said 1 hours lunch, turned up and they said it was 30 minutes and contract  incorrect. My contract still says 30 minutes. Not  a big deal but lots of little things add up.

Pay very good for what you do, but you are expected to be a Jack of All Trades trained by people who haven't worked live calls for years. Quickly find that some of the team leaders do not keep up to date with changes, often asking you to find out the answer yourself and "keep them posted so they know for the future". 



Typical day at work would be starting at 9am -5pm for five days a week with office days being on a Tuesday and Thursday. Although people may choose to change their working hours for the day and some may not turn up to the office days. 

I didn't really learn much from working at Peabody but found it to be hard clicky in terms of trying to settle in as a new starter. The desk booking system meant for the first month I didn't interact with my team. 

Workplace culture is generally good but it is very cut throat in terms of if your face fits and for example for the first six months you are not allowed to be given employee perks and any mistakes or errors are documented. Three people that started around the same time as me were called up for a HR review just before their probation ended based on a document provided by their manager with no fact finding taking place. 

The hardest part of my job was that very little training or support was provided so you need to have prior experience in a similar role before joining. 

Most enjoyable part was that amount of team socials that were organised.

I’ve really enjoyed working at this company. I work in a good team, feel supported and enjoy my job. Most days are the same so there’s lots of routine. 
Managers and senior management are supportive and seem to actually care about you as a human being. 

It took a long time to actually start and their on boarding process needs improvement. You get lots of training and can progress as a result. 

There are a lot of older staff who seem to have given up and don’t have much of a work ethic. They can be quite lazy and shouldn’t be working in support with vulnerable adults as they are so unprofessional. The good staff are great though. I feel very supported by people in my team and your opinions are listened to. 

The pay is very low for industry standards and this will not change. Other companies pay more for the same job but maybe don’t treat their staff as well. 

Overall, a good job and a great company. They need to pay more though. Then they might retain more high quality staff. 

Typical day at work- Support service users into the communal area, microwave their breakfast and put the TV on for the day. Offer tea and biscuits mid morning followed by corned beef sandwiches for lunch. Tea and cake is offered mid afternoon shortly followed by dinner, usually something easy like sausage rolls. A hot milky drink and a bit more tv before returning service users to their rooms and supporting them in to bed.

What I believe I learned- negative environments and low standards are bad for your health and wellbeing.

Management- with proper management there really is so much that could be improved.

Hardest part of the job- watching service users spend so much time indoors looking depressed.

Most enjoyable part of the job- positive feedback from service users and their visiting health professionals. Positive feedback from the general public when out in the community with service users.

Peabody used to be a great place to work before it merged with Family Mosaic. Fantastic people and working environment and culture. Since merger, they have reduced some of our benefits, reduced our pensions, restructured at short notice and changed management. The management don't know how to set expectations to the rest of the business and agree and over-promise to all demands. Since my role has changed during the restructure, I'm now expected to work 24/7 with little salary increase even though there is no out-of-hours on-call arrangement and it's not in my contract - if I don't answer my phone I get told off! Everyone else's emergency becomes my emergency and I'm expected to do things are that not in my remit. I'm expected to do everything for everyone.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working as a support worker, the staffs are always there to know what is happening about you, colleagues are so helpful, and workload is always reviewed to make sure service are not understaffed which can bring undue pressure to staffs


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
As a relief staff you need to be at alert and pick shifts and hen a message is sent, and you have to make calls to do it.

Environmental friendly, as a night support worker you mostly lone work

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy sometimes, sometimes agency staff come late in the morning

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Assist 4/5 adult learners (silver surfers) to develop study skills specifically tailored to their individual needs. Diagnosing hardware and software problems.
• Ensure learners are given feedback on their progress. Evaluate and keep records of learners’ progress in order to see where improvements can be made.
• Evaluate own teaching skills to make sure learners are receiving enough attention and assistance.
• Identify/assess the needs of learners and if necessary adapt course content and delivery style to meet these needs. Motivate learners and encourage confidence. 
• Prepare appropriate teaching materials. Organise and tidy equipment and materials.

Peabody was the place where I learned how to break out of my shell as I was placed in an environment where I had to talk to people as we were working in their houses a lot of the time. It was where I did my apprenticeship and had what felt like my first real job, I was given the responsibility to handle certain tasks by myself but nothing overwhelming was placed on me. There was the opportunity to earn more money with overtime work if you wanted it. Other workers there were easy to get along and work with and most of the time things were explained in enough detail so that everybody understood the situation and knew what they were doing.

Lots of nepatism going on at Peabody . We recently merged with Catalyst. Team work is poor . Favouritism going on.  Workers moved on rapidly to management position without experience. Equal opportunity doesn't exist .  Sadly good staff are leaving due to unfairness in recruitment.  Not given the chance to apply . Job just internally given to favourite staff without given anyone else the opportunity. HR are not good also in recognising that job advert should go out fairly which is not the case. Other internal and external candidates don't get opportunities to apply.  

A typical day at work would be to match invoices to PO's and process for payment. 

With over 10 years of experience within Finance section I have self learnt about the business, department and end to end process. 

Since the merger between Family Mosaic and Peabody the processes are going backwards and management is not prepared to take any action.

The hardest part is to walk into the office and smile at people you do not wish to speak to every day.
