I took this role on because it was an interesting work based challenge in what for me was a completely new role and sector having previously operated as an independent management consultant within manufacturing industry. As a new teacher, I have been given great support  from my line manager, my colleagues and an appointed mentor. I enjoy working at Petroc; the only shortcoming is the IT provision which, although mostly adequate, is sometimes frustrating. The work life balance is great.

Petroc - though filled with very friendly and welcoming people - has proven to be poor on the organization and communication side of things. 
So much knowledge and experiences have been shared and have proven very useful to the occupation, yet management would barely communicate with colleagues lower down and will not give feedback unless it was negative feedback.
The job has proven enjoyable at most points yet stressful from time to time (like all occupations).

Training going into a new role/ workplace is needed, but this lacked across the whole of my department. The excuse was 'well we never had training when we started'. 

Those in the team on a higher pay scale do not do all that is on their job descriptions, and what they cannot pick up falls to those on a lower pay scale. The only excuse there ever seems to be is 'they're too busy'... 

I have heard working in other departments the atmosphere is very welcoming. If something was to come up in a different department I would apply. 



I worked at Petroc for 26 years overall and saw many changes during this period. I had very good support from my line managers and work colleagues over this time and made some very good friends along the way. Many memories, both good and not so good but that's life and the experiences will be with me forever! I'm now in a new chapter of my life as a Self Employed Bookkeeper, and enjoying the challenges that come with it!

Emails/checking enrolment forms/ answering the telephone/ helping with enquiries/updating information.
Learnt a lot of IT and different systems used by Petroc.

Petroc is one of the best places I have worked. Each day is different, and you can always count on getting the support you need. The benefits are great, as is the food in the canteen. There are so many opportunities for growth and development and Petroc will nurture this desire to develop and grow. I would recommend working here to anyone. 

I can summarise my experience with Petroc in one word: friendly.
From higher management all the way down to the cleaning crew, everyone you encounter is relaxed and friendly, which makes for an amazing work atmosphere. 
While this job is very different from anything I've done before, the learning curve has been made infinitely easier by the support from my peers.
I'd highly recommend Petroc as an employer.  

I have found that all staff I have met, three weeks into the role, to be very friendly, polite and helpful. Though my role has a high degree of autonomy, the training and continuous attention to ensure compliance and how i'm operating within the role is excellent. There is no such thing as a silly question here; all are relevant. 

I have not been at Petroc for very long, but have been taken aback by how supportive the college are for accommodating flexible working and the general induction of new staff. 

I have been made to feel very welcome and looked after by both my team and the college's HR function. 

The work is challenging and varied, but, with a workplace full of friendly and helpful faces, I feel supported in every aspect. 

I am currently on a temporary contract and have only been here for a few months but I have been made to feel part of the team, everyone has been helpful and welcoming. It is a very friendly caring and supportive place to work and I have already made many friends.
I have just secured myself a permanent position in another department and look forward to my future here at Petroc.
