Pulse-Nursing-At-Home

Having come from a care company who provided personal care support to clients, I expected a similar training programme, working environment and office relations as my ex-employers had offered. However, I was pleasantly surprised. 

Training:
Pulse offers second to none training in all aspects of client support, in addition to the possibility of further developing one’s training in fields such as ventilation and end of life care. I had zero experience in complex care when I started and the thought of tracheostomy and PEG care summoned a great deal of anxiety! Nevertheless, the personalised training consisted of both theory and practical application of the knowledge acquired, which played a huge role in establishing me as a competent support worker as I was able to obtain a solid idea of what I would expect in practice. Moreover, Pulse offered a two day paid shadowing shift that allowed me to familiarise myself with the client, the routine and care needs of the client, whilst having an able support worker to seek advice from specific to the client. My opinions were sought by the office, therefore allowing me to consider whether the care package was right for me or not. It is also important to note, Pulse also provides recognised qualifications in areas such as medicine administration etc.

Working Environment:
For those that are studying a healthcare based degree, I could not recommend Pulse more. As a trainee Pharmacist, my work allows me to work very closely with patients as well liaise with other healthcare professionals such as nurses, pharmacists and OT’s. The Manchester office has a few nurses who welcome questions and discussion – something I have taken full advantage of! Plus they’re absolutely brilliant. I was also offered an opportunity to assist the Business Manager in strengthening the training programme which aimed to reduce transcribing errors - it's good to know they appreciate the specialities of their workers.

Office Support and Administration:
It is reassuring to know there is excellent support available from the office in the form of care managers and in my experience, more importantly, a clinical nurse to whom questions can be directed to. I have found my queries have been dealt with immediately or on the day. The staff at the office are friendly, supportive and understanding. The Manchester team in particularly exemplary. For me, the imperative thing is that I have been able to mould my work around my studies. Such flexibility is difficult to come by coupled with a good wage and a varied and large amount of work availability. In terms of progression, I was offered a management position not long into my employment which emphasises Pulse’s attitude to good work ethic. I have never had any pay issues with Pulse. The best thing is they email staff a copy of their wage slip and send a text informing the employee when the wage will be deposited into the employees account. 

Summary:
I guess the most important thing about Pulse as a company is that they actually care about their clients and staff. Unfortunately, in today’s day and age, that is difficult to come by, particularly in the care industry. Through the company, I was able to support a client and his family from a difficult time right till the end. There is nothing more honourable and humbling than that.
 
All in all, a great company, great work availability and wage - and great people to work with!

Iv worked for a few care companies in the past and not one of them deserve the name CARE company as there is a major lack of care, however working for pulse has restored my faith in care companies, iv found that the staff on a whole are very caring and genuinely enjoy what they do, 
Iv had numerous amounts of training and am very confident in what i do.
I'm able to help support 2 clients with various tasks, some of which are more complex than others, some of my duties include personal care and maintaining the upkeep of the household cleanliness and others include trachy care, PEG care, cough assist and suction therapy, all of which iv had sufficient training in. Most of my day is spent helping my clients maintain a "normal" day to day life, so we watch tv, cook, clean, open mail, etc
I work with a great team and we support each other.
I personally do 12 hour shifts and work both days and nights, i drive so i also sometimes travel to other clients houses to do temp cover, 
I prefer to stay with the 2 clients i have already however its also nice to see other clients that pulse help support in the community, 
The company i worked for before did not have any contact with clients and i always found this hard to understand, we wasn't supported in our roles we were just left to it, once I started working for pulse and found that we are contacted daily to check on each client i was relieved to have finally found a company that care not just about the money but about the people they look after. 
I hope to carry on working for pulse for a long time, 
I genuinely love my job and have a great sense of satisfaction in what i do.

I joined Pulse Nursing at Home last year to head up our Talent Attraction and Resourcing function. Fabulous onboarding and recruitment process and I've been made to feel welcome and supported throughout.

What I like the most is the focus on wellbeing and work/life balance. There's a real push from the very top down to make the current staff feel valued and rewarded.

The work that the company does in the Community is super inspiring. We essentially help people with highly complex care needs transition from a hospital environment to their own homes, providing nurses and support workers that can deliver them care 24/7. As you would expect - this makes my role particularly rewarding and for someone not used to a Healthcare Environment this has been a real eye opener to the sector.

We promote Diversity and Inclusivity across the business and I lead a team of fantastic resourcers who dedicate their days to filling urgent care packages with the best possible Nursing and Support Worker staff. Its a great environment to work in with flexible working (handy for half term!) and generous holidays, benefits and opportunities for reward and recognition. Super excited for the future - we're expanding into Scotland this year and launching a new Nurse Concierge service.

Would recommend the place to both clinical and non clinical personnel. Great culture and some great opportunities on the horizon.

I have never dealt with worse company than this one. When applying you have to cover every week of your life, if you were unemployed and didn't register as a Jobseeker with Job Centre, no chances for being employed. It was actually them who found me and offered me a job due to my experience and then I was treated horribly by people working in the agency. I wasted 3 months during which I was paying for DBS and attending trainings that I had valid certificates for from my previous job, never received certificates from them. Everything sounds great when they try to employ you but then it just gets worse and worse. It's supposed to be a flexible position but if you say no more than once, forget about shifts. After a few weeks generally forget you are going to get any shifts if you're not being absolutely obedient to what you're being asked to do. I was warned by their own staff when I started and unfortunately didn't listen. To sum up: wasting money and time, no shifts, no income, no respect from management and a lot of disgusted staff leaving all the time. Their staff rotation you can easily notice by the fact that they desperately contact people from indeed to start the recruitment and no matter when you check, they are ALWAYS advertising because of constant lack of staff. Avoid at all cost!

I heard about this company on indeed , always advertising for staff. I applied, and was asked to come in and complete a registration form. I went to pulse and had an interview with the consultant who seemed very promising. She told me there would always be work available for me and I was quite convinced, she told me someone from there training team will be in touch with me in a couple of days to book me on the training. So I waited not a couple of days, but a  week! And did not Here from them. I called her myself and she told me, the reason for the delay was an error in my registration form and asked me to come in and correct the mistake. So I went there the following morning to make the amendment. And just before I was leaving, I asked her when they will put me in the training?, and she replied , you will get a call later on today from someone to book you on the training.
 And its been 2 months and I haven't heard from them. I have successfully found a job with another company after being messed about by pulse. My advice is STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. 
DON'T SAY NOBODY WARNED YOU!!

i know some people who have had a good experience with pulse, however mine was not. i came from another company over on my contract, which they hated. They owed me thousands which took me ages to get back. i nearly lost my home because of them. My manager would bully me, give my number to families, and tell me horrible things. I had to calculate my pay for payroll each month otherwise they wouldnt pay me,  a baby could of done it yet they couldnt figure out how to work a contract. I had my holiday cancelled on the day of my holiday by my awful manager, she toild me to come back to do a shift, i said no as i was on holiday and its not even legal to do that. She told me she would let the family know i let them down. Very horrible. When i joined i was told by pulse that they are like a hamster wheel, staff get on and staff get off and we're all replaceable. 

If you treat your staff awful, you will lose them and if you don't have them, you have NOTHING, because they are the ones who go into the home and do the job thats required. I hope for any carers and families sakes, that they have changed their ways

I have worked with this company for almost 4 years in 3 different roles. I have found the company to be very supportive and proactive to the needs of the team. 
I have had the opportunity to grow personally and professionally throughout my time here. The support I have received has been detailed and varied from shadowing, coaching to mentoring. I have had the opportunity to cement my management knowledge with nationally recognised courses with the support of the senior management team. 
Although the work is very challenging given the nature of supplying support workers to deliver complex care in clients own homes. It is very rewarding knowing that we enable clients to receive high quality care in there own homes and that they take the lead in how they wish to be cared for.

Do not bother applying for this company, I did as the company advertised a job near in merthyr tydfil, to then tell me 6 months down the line that the nearest job for me was infact bridgend!!

The manager said I had to pay for a dbs but then said if I failed the training then I could claim the money back that I had spent on that dbs......which was infact a lie, after I said I didn't want the job after being messed around did I realise I could not transfer it onto another job.

From the start of the recruitment process the lack of communication between staff members was ridiculous, making me fill out the same forms on numerous occasions, or making out that I was lying saying I hadn't sent them back!!

After wasting 6 months on waiting to start work and completing all the training I then got accused of being dyslexic and that the manager was considering of 'sacking me on the spot', i'm glad I found employment else where!!

What a joke of a company!!

I work a regular long days with various clients throughout manchester. I do drop in calls as well as sits. I have learnt a fair amount and have progressed within the company. Hard work and dedication is recognised and rewarded. Positive attitude follows positive response. I work with a great team of colleagues, both in the field and in the office. Everyone tries to help each other as much they can. Clients have made me feel welcome and appreciate my support. Have build a strong rapport with all my clients and their family. The support received from the office is very good, training always given in respect to clients needs. I have always had more work than I was expecting, never fell short in work.
