The young people are absolutely fantastic, I learned so much working at BHS about challenging behaviour, autism etc and there was always opportunities to learn more. The induction and continued training was great, despite some teething problems with IT. 

The management were super approachable, supportive and understanding. They were willing to listen to any problems and support you, management were very pupil focussed and always had their best interests at heart. 

The pay unfortunately was not great comparative to other companies who pay more for the same work. 

Unfortunately, there were some ‘bad apples’ in the team who let BHS down; as you get in any workplace there were cliques, but I’ve never experienced anything like it as I have here. These cliques seemed to be there to gossip and make rude comments and jokes about people. They  didn’t share that fantastic pupil focus that the majority of the team did, they were lazy, passed on their work to hard working members of the team and were reluctant to support in times of crisis if you weren’t one of their ‘friends’. It was always an uncomfortable working environment with certain staff members present, especially if your face didn’t fit. That’s unfortunately what let’s this otherwise great job down. 

However, if you go there and get your head down, there are so many opportunities to learn and build fantastic relationships with the young people. That’s why it’s worth it 🤍

A typical day is 8-4 or 4-10. In the morning you will help young people go about there daily life's. If it's a school day you will sit in class. After School back to house for dinner and after school activities. 

House Managers and Shift Managers will try and get young people out and about on community visits. 

Hardest part of the job is dealing with the stress but support is there so please ask. The young people were a pleasure to work with.

What have I learned team work is key support is there. Everyone will help you but you need to ask for help and support if needed. 

Most enjoyable part is engaging with the young people cooking with them playing a board game or on a  console or even just chatting with them. Starting a morning shift and you have people waiting for you to walk through the door. It's a very very rewarding job. Its not for everyone. You will have ups and downs but learn from staff members who have been there for many years. 

I thoroughly enjoy working for the SENAD group. I have received a lot of training since I first started, online and face to face, which has been both informative and necessary. I have also been very fortunate to receive plenty of support and advice from my shift leader, manager and head of care. They are all knowledgeable and approachable. From the ground up there is a positive culture running through the whole place and I feel fully supported by my colleages. Having recently passed my probation I have gone up a pay scale, with the option of further training and career progression. I am working towards my Level 4 Diploma, which I am very thankful SENAD is paying for. The shift pattern suits my lifestyle and it's predictable on a three week rolling rota, with plenty of hours holiday. The residents can be challening at times but the role is very rewarding, and I alway feel fully supportd. I would encourage anyone to work for the SENAD group, with no two working days ever the same!

I worked at their Bromyard location for a good few years. I enjoyed the job itself, even though the 3 week rota basis is very hard to find routine (having either 7:30am starts, 10pm finishes or both.) The staff on my particular house were very welcoming and I have not a single bad word to say about them. But unfortunately the management is a different story. The management here believe they own you, rather then guide you. Repeating policies that they do not follow themselves I.e: not having a personal phone in the work place, while having both their work phone and personal phone in separate pockets along with obviously showing favouritism. I left due to feeling undermined and ‘picked on’ for a lack of a better word by both upper management and HR due to time off which was out of my control.

Like I said, very very rewarding experience for a job, management may have changed since I was there, but just be mindful! 

The management are a disgrace to the care industry. They have no care for the young people we care for or the staff, when it is raised it is pushed under the carpet. All of the management are in a ‘click’ but then it doesn’t help when there are more management than young people we care for. 
The risk of injury is very high, but management don’t care when you’ve had to go to hospital after an incident with a young person, they don’t even check that you’re ok! 
The only positives about working there are the other support staff. The young people are supported well enough by how the management staff it for them to thrive they are declining and it is horrible to see when you are working there. If you try to raise a problem regarding a young person, again it gets pushed under the carpet by management. 
(Not many people last long here so just look for something else with better money because the money is dreadful)

Having worked within the company for many years, I have gained a vast array of knowledge and skills, which I am able to use daily, the company mandatory training package is very good, and there is room for advancement, within most roles.

The staff & management teams here are very hard working, and at times have to work under immense pressure when dealing with some of the challenging behaviour from our residents and the constraints of a residential home, however they all strive to provide a happy, and healthy lifestyle and home to each of the residents.

The hardest part of the job is seeing self injurious behaviour.

The most enjoyable part of my role, is ensuring that all shifts are covered enabling the residents to learn new skills, go out on activities and holidays, visiting friends & family, and each home is suitable, safe and welcoming at all times.

To put it mildly the place is ok, alot of rumours go around and staff are constantly slating one and other whether that be RSW's or the assistant heads of care in the seniors office. 

The pay is shockingly low for the work life balance offered and the incidents you have to deal with.

I was lucky because I got on with people however I seen a lot of people get ridiculed in that job for doing something wrong which is part and parcel of a new job whilst dealing with ever changing YP's and when making a mistake some staff members would hold that against them.

Overall I genuinely enjoyed my time there working with the young people and taking them on trips it was so fulfilling, but the unprofessional staff members ranging from Asssistant heads of cares to teachers etc was a deal breaker for me listening to staff members being slated on a daily occurrence was not nice.

It’s so hard to write a review for something like this. You will definitely see new and interesting things that challenge you daily. I’m still seeing crazy things that surprise me after 12 years in the sector. Senad has some stunning locations and some fantastic employees. I’ve found it to be one of the most fitting places for my eccentric personality as the young people do enjoy lots of fun! 
Sadly however due to budget constraints and staffing problems it has become an increasingly difficult place to go to work with little in the way of “reward” the pay is slightly below average but the overtime can help compensate. The hours can be extremely long and the rota annoying as it can feel like you never have time off due to unsociable hours  
I have enjoyed my time with Senad but I am excited to leave and engage with a new challenge in a different sector.
