Stephensons was a great place to work.  I quite quickly advanced to the senior Administrator role from a normal lower Admin assistant, and was valued for my Administrations skills, my friendly and approachable attitude, and my willingness to aid others. 

I developed strong relations to all staff, be they fellow Administrators, team leaders or the management. Stephensons put great emphasis on team bonding, holding bi-annual parties and gatherings for their staff. 

The hardest part of the job was working as a senior administrator, completing the hardest aspects of the job, whilst answering the phone calls. My team had about 5 Administrators, 4 solicitors, and a manager, with hundreds of cases, which resulted in many phone calls. In fact, the phone hardly stopped ringing, and we had to juggle speaking to the clients / brokers / estate agents, whilst typing notes, and working on files. 

A great part of the job, was the many thanks that I received from happy clients after the completion of their house, and in  a few cases, the written letters the company received about my conduct, and how "outstanding" I was in dealing with them and their case.  I always tried to go above and beyond for the client and that really seemed to translate to the client.

Working hours: 9 am to 5 pm

Things I have learned:
Organisational skills - managing diaries and files.
Learning new aspects of the job e.g. reviewing medical records, drafting instructions to counsel, completing court documents and attending site inspections.
Educational - attending in house and external seminars.

Hardest part of the job: learning the case manager database/system.

Most enjoyable part of the job: progressing claims to settlement in order to achieve the best possible outcome for the client.

Co-workers: willing to help and supportive.

Advising and assisting clients on their debt problems, negotiating repayment plans on behalf of clients wih their creditors by telephone and correspondence. Updatng clients details on computer system, answering queries from clients over the telephone.

To be part of a team, able to sove problems, to be confident in my work, to be part of a team and able to work aone.

Working with my friends/ collegues and helping my clients come to a satisfactory conclusion to their finacial problems.

Never received any formal training even though this was promised and emphasised at my interview. 

Over-staffed and had to ask for tasks everyday. Sat most days with nothing to do - would be happy when given filing or basic administrative jobs. 

Was promised a lot from the firm, it was all false. 

If you want to gain transferable skills and fufill your potential with a firm that values you as an individual then I would avoid Stephensons like the plague.

One of the benefits of working for a firm like Stephensons Solicitors is that you get to work with a diverse range of professionals from varied backgrounds. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The management have successfully encouraged the concept of communication by 'leaving their doors open'. Not only do i enjoy waking up every morning to go to work for Stephensons, but i have expanded my knowledge on a variety of areas of law and i have developed knowledge about the structure of a law firm that i will keep with me through my career.

Work-life balance good. Management good. Pay awful but good way to get a foot in the door. Enjoyed my time here but personally I think you could only stay for a short period of time due to the pay being so low. Good experience nonetheless.

Have spent a number of years at this company - as the years went by you expected to take on more and more work with no added bonuses and sometimes with no help at all and just left.

Also seems to a lot of Yes man that just do things to please other people.

- Generally was a terrible place to work. The atmosphere of the office was tense and miserable. 

I feel fortunate that I have worked at other law firms where my experience was entirely different to the atrocious one I had at Stephensons.

Managers are relaxed and clearly have a lot of trust in the people they employ, giving a sense of belief and motivation for employees. But they also know when to assert their authority and how to do so in a non-confrontational way. 

Working in this role was rewarding at times but often very stressful due to high workloads, tight deadlines, and limited support. While I gained valuable skills in resilience and organisation, the constant pressure and fast-paced environment made it difficult to enjoy the work.
