Best job I’ve ever had - 

I’m currently doing an apprenticeship at Calcot and I’ve had the best experience. Having moved around all the departments, all staff are very approachable with nothing being too much trouble. Always happy to help and offer their support. The training I’ve received is fantastic and very in-depth with opportunities to build skills and career progression. Management is brilliant and again, approachable if you have any concerns. 

There are many perks of working for Calcot such as free on-shift meals, staff accommodation, discount on F&B and rooms discount within the collection, provided uniform. Beautiful setting and it feels like one big family. I couldn’t recommend the company enough. 



Working for the Painswick (part of Calcot collection) has been a pleasure. I’ve learnt countless skills along the way such as running the bar & making brilliant cocktails, brewing amazing coffee, gained huge knowledge of wine but the best part of working for the Painswick are the people I have met there. You can always count on someone to help you and everyone makes you feel at home. 
Alongside this you get a few benefits to working for the calcot such as staff discount if you want to dine in the restaurant or stay in the cosy rooms. The cons of working at the Painswick is the lack of staff parking, its a very demanding job physically and mentally due to overbooking and lastly there are no set roles meaning everyone does everything. 

If you are career driven and passionate for  your job, it’s the best place to improve yourself and progress! I join the collection nearly 4 years ago as waiter in the Conservatory Restaurant, with management support and guidance I can proudly say that I’m a successful Restaurant assistant manager. I’ve achieved wine&management knowledge, because they believed in my skills! Thank you !

Amazing work-life balance , understanding management, nice environment!

Nothing very challenging , sometimes short of staff ! 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very beautiful place to work,nice experience if someone just started to work. Very professional management! 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Everyday , specially the events.

Calcot Manor Hotel near to Tetbury, Gloucester, England.
Calcot Manor is a 4 star hotel and also has a 2AA Rosette Restaurant. I worked on the pastry section for both the Gumstool Inn kitchen and the Conservatory Restaurant.
My jobs here included: the complete services (starter, and dessert).Weekly preparation of the lunch and dinner service. Preparation of the wedding and party desserts.
Also any functions and duties which needed to be done on a day.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Massive support, great upper management, lively work atmosphere

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Very little. Good company decent people

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Supportive, chances to progress, CPD great, staff patient when learning

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Interesting, varied, pleasant to work at. Good benefits.

Staff are like family, best place to work, lots of support and empowerment, delish food on shift and the most stunning house and garden. I have been on many courses and have had a lot of time invested in me by my superiors, its a great place to work if you have passion for hospitality and giving good service!

We're like a big family and you're given all the support and freedom to grow and progress your career. It's a great place socially and the settings of all the hotels are beautiful. There's also free staff food and great discounts on stays, food and drink - which is great perk!

Decided to leave a secure job I wasn't happy doing and take the plunge and a start a new job with Calcot, it's the best decision I've ever made, I love every single element of my job, they are the best employers I have ever worked for and I'm so happy here, everyone is do friendly and it's great to be part of an amazing team 

An absolutely amazing place to work! Many workplaces claim to have a 'family feel' between their employees and within departments... But Calcot truly has this environment through out. My only regret is not being able to work there longer that I did.
