I’d never stepped into this role of work before but it was something new and different for myself along the way was guided and supported not only by mangement but the team they really do help and support your daily if there’s a question needed to be answered somone often knows the answer alongside this you’ll find the appropriate policy’s and materials to hand within home , if not the company wil regularly provide you with online courses to complete and regular training in house and monthly meetings which really do pull the team together . On a daily basis you build a relationship with the young people who you become more like family towards every day , all days are different and with the various activities which are available for the children ,staff have input into how various activities can be put in place to benefit the children and many memories get made ! Recently the in-house team received a award for the best team ! This was a amazement in fairness the support we have been having from are regional manager imput has made a difference, some training that has been provided from the manager of home regularly has built up a strong rapour with staff and support workers have been trying there best to cover shifts when required to make there shifts run smooth.

If there is a potential in yourself to move up the scale within your career .management will look into courses such as a level 3 / 4 course or something else you may want, regular supervision’s with management provide for staff to achieve a outcome  and in honesty if there’s something your looking for managers will look for it ive been asked a lot “what do you want from me , how can I support you” the moment you think about what you want your already getting something out of it , great communication is a trick 

The home itself is regularly making changes to its decor, sensory areas  and staff have input in what they think could make the house even more of a home the young people.
 
As a support worker you will find you will help develop the children in many ways through the activities provided within the home and community through craft, shopping, building, maths , baking  it’s great !

I began working for Pathways/Modus in 2017 during a time that was unsettled- Three care companies coming together is bound to cause a few hiccups. Whilst I wasn't sure in the beginning, and like all of us I was to quick to judge others on the mistakes that happen. But with perspective I realised that mistake are just opportunities for growth and  the Senior Management team were very patient with my mistakes and boy did that become the spring board for my own success.

In that I found that the people I work for only have our staff and more importantly the people we support at the very heart of what we do. I have worked for in social care for nearly 15 years and I have worked for many different companies but this is the first company that has been invested in my training and development, I am finally doing my diploma, I have been paid to go on additional training to ensure my success, my line manager shows me respect, listens and take interest in my ideas, but also gives me the autonomy and trust to do my job!!! Something I have never experienced before.

I love coming to work and I love my job, its hard and its challenging but so very rewarding, I know the key players and the Senior management team by name, they are friendly, supportive and only an email or phone call away.

My colleagues both in my region and across the company are passionate, kind and a pleasure to work with. I feel I have earned a place of respect and admiration amongst my peers and the management team.

I hope that I continue to rise within the company and continue to spend many happy years here, but also I can't wait to see the growth and development we achieve as we continue to work together and follow our core values.

I get to go home every day and tell people with a sense of pride who I work for!!


My experience at Salutem has been consistently rewarding. Each day is filled with a productive atmosphere, and the structured routine allows me to efficiently manage tasks, providing a sense of accomplishment by the end of the day.

I worked for Greenfeilds Newark for a year. I started off as a support worker and then went to become a senior. 

Let me tell you a little about greenfeilds. 

Its a horrible place to work, you don’t have ANY training you get thrown in at the deep end and when you need some support you expect your management to give you that but they don’t know the meaning of support they just push you under the bus and make you deal with it yourself. 

I tried to step down from being an senior for months and months but every time they said they will take me off as senior they didn’t and kept putting me on it even though I was breaking down crying and telling them I can’t do it anymore. Also they NEVER gave me an senior contract from the start! 

You work 12 hour days and you can work up to 4/7 days straight without anytime off. When you go to management about it they just say we are short staffed. The place is always short staffed, I believe the reason they are always short staffed is because there is no support, the money is rubbish for the amount you do in a 12 hour day and the MASSIVE turn over in management! 

The company as a whole don’t follow any policy’s and procedures and put residents at risk! 

The residents are AMAZING, but they just don’t get enough from living there at all, the building is run down, they never get to spend their money on things they need or want, they have cheap nasty food and they pay so much to live there!

I dont think any will change at that place at all!! 

I feel sorry for the residents that live there!

This job was amazing, the residents are wonderful. The senior support team and nursing team are top quality. Unfortunately the manager over the years became very involved with themselves and grew an ego it was hard to be around. The senior team (below the manager) were fully supportive of all the staff and tried their hardest to do the best by the residents and staff but were often impeded by the unfortunate ego of said manager. If the idea was not their own then it was not good enough. Working around someone like that could create a slightly toxic environment of favouritism. The nursing team were top quality and worked well with the senior team, but again impeded by the manager and their views on how things should be done. I wish Lewis Martin Court the best in the future. A new person needs to be in charge for the place to flourish as it should. The work involved a lot of medical practice and training  such as peg feeding, dysphagia, stoma care. And the amount paid to the support staff in comparison to what the job entails is poor. No enhancements for weekends or nights is troubling.If they matched the enhancements of the NHS it would encourage more people to stay instead of moving to the NHS. Considering this is a private company the pay should at least match or overshadow the pay for the National Health Service. 

I have worked for Modus for almost 6 years. I enjoy the  work and, on the whole, it suits me well. Some managers are excellent, others less so, and I feel this should be looked at more closely. The training is excellent and most of the staff are very nice and supportive. There is a tendency towards ticking lots of boxes rather than spending time with the service users in some houses. The shifts can sometimes be very long and include unsociable hours. However, most managers will arrange the shifts to allow staff the days off that they need and are flexible with the rota as long as staff discuss this with them in advance. I recently had some time off sick and was very ill. When I returned to work my manager was very supportive and rearranged my shifts to help me. There used to be a lot of investigation and disciplinary meetings but these seem to have reduced in number recently. The work itself can be very varied and challenging so suits some people but not others. The weekend enhancements and 6 weeks annual leave are good but the average pay is low for the dedication that is required from staff and risks involved that are often part of a normal working day.

I have been employed with Pathways for around 13 years. The business has been taken over by a new company recently.
In the previous years i can agree with some of the negative feedback around us as a company, since the new takeover things have really progressed- we have more support and involvement from the senior management team, encouraged and supported to ensure our service users are put first as they should and supported financially to ensure our homes are person centred! We have been given better budgets and support with enviroments for our service users which is well over due. This new company is completely invested in the CARE aspect and also SERVICE USERS and  STAFF! Especially progression and benefits such as perkbox and life assurance!  
Unfortunately some of the feedback is negative and may put people off but please dont let it, some people go into the job simply for that reason (its a job) and this job is not for everyone! Do we have challenging days- YES. Could you do an easier job for the money - YES. But lets face it, the people that work in care do it for the service users, to make a difference and not for the money!! I agree wages are NMW but there are high hopes for the future that this will improve.
There are lots of  exciting things in the pipeline with this company and i look forward to what the future holds for everyone involved.

What is the best part of working at the company?
"I left my role as a Care Home Manager due to a personal relocation, but I would have stayed with the company long-term otherwise. Having worked for several providers in the sector, I can say this company truly stands out. They do things 'the right way,' prioritizing resident welfare and compliance over cutting corners. Management was consistently supportive, providing the resources and backing needed to run the home effectively. It’s a refreshing environment compared to others in the industry, and I highly recommend them to any healthcare professional."

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part of the job is the high level of responsibility that comes with managing a care home, particularly regarding regulatory compliance and staffing. However, the guidance and support from the senior leadership team is second to none. Even during the busiest times, I always felt I had the backing and resources I needed to succeed, which is rare in this industry.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is inclusive and incredibly welcoming; it really feels like a family. There is a strong sense of belonging and a shared goal of providing the best possible care. As a manager, knowing you have that kind of supportive, close-knit culture behind you makes all the difference. It’s a company that genuinely cares about its people.

Unsecure site means service users can (and do) leave site. Staff have alerted management multiple times, and nothing has been done.
Problems aren't solved at the root cause, meaning staff are constantly putting out fires and becoming burnt out.
Lack of communication - on multiple occasions, staff are notified that a meeting is happening without appropriate time to prepare.
Lack of empathy from management when it comes to staff emotional and mental health needs.
Equipment breaking and not being replaced, meaning service users are missing out.
Staff get the workload of 6 people, and get penalised when they don't have time to do the job they've been hired for.
Management not hiring the staff members that are needed, staff having to take on responsibilities that aren't a part of their job role, and then fail their probation due to not being able to complete their actual responsibilities.
Staff who work closely with service users aren't involved in meetings to support the service user.
Staff turnover is incredibly high and staff do not receive the necessary training that's needed before starting. 

One of the pros is job security- you can fall asleep during your shift and not even get a disciplinary! 

All of this for minimum wage and micromanagement.
Look after your mental health and stay away.

Just to clarify - this review is about Ambito’s Community Service in Lancaster, NOT Beaumont College......
The values of the management of this service have completely disappeared in the last 2 years. I used to be proud to work for a company that cared so much about it's customers and staff, but now this company are only interested in saving and making money, and do not care how this impacts on the staff and customers. I was pushed out of my job after 12 years of loyal service because I maintained the values that the service was built on, and because I challenged incompetence and injustice. But this company no longer cares about what is right, just what is cheapest, easiest and ticks the box. Support workers are no longer supported by management to do their jobs well, they are just ignored and treated like pawns on a chess board, and threatened with disciplinary action when they are unable to access the pointless online training. Leaving this service was the best decision I have ever made, my only regret is that I couldn't take the customers and the majority of the support workers with me!
Oh, and before the automatic reply to this review is posted - I was never offered an exit interview - the management team couldn't even bring themselves to say bye to me on my last day. Absolutely disgusting way to treat people.
