If you're a talented Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef looking for your next step, we'd love to hear from you.

The Winyard’s Gap is a beautiful, busy country pub and dining room in West Dorset, with a great reputation for food, service and hospitality. We're surrounded by stunning countryside and have one of the best views in the West Country — but we're just as proud of what's happening in our kitchen.

We're looking for a Junior Sous Chef who really cares about food, takes pride in their work and wants to be valued as an important part of our kitchen team.

This is a genuine opportunity to step up. You'll work closely with our Head Chef and Sous Chef, take responsibility for your section and help deliver great service during busy shifts. We're looking for someone who wants to develop, learn and take on more responsibility as they grow into the role.

What you'll be doing

Supporting the Head Chef and sous chef during service
Taking responsibility for your section and making sure prep is completed to a high standard
Cooking and plating dishes consistently to our standards
Working with fresh, quality ingredients and taking pride in what goes out of the kitchen
Helping to maintain a clean, organised and professional kitchen
Supporting and encouraging other members of the kitchen team
Helping less experienced chefs develop their skills and confidence
Making sure food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures are followed at all times
Stepping up to support the running of the kitchen when the Head Chef or Sous Chef isn't there

Who we're looking for

You might already be working as a Junior Sous Chef, or you could be an experienced Chef de Partie or a cook ready to take the next step.

More important than the job title, we're looking for someone who:

Has some solid experience in a professional kitchen
Is confident cooking from fresh ingredients
Has good preparation, knife and organisational skills
Takes real pride in the food they produce
Can work calmly and efficiently when service gets busy
Is reliable, hardworking and genuinely wants to be part of a team
Has a good understanding of food hygiene, allergens and kitchen safety
Wants to learn and develop rather than simply turn up, cook and go home
