About Waste Organics
Waste Organics is an innovative food-waste processing business focused on transforming food waste into valuable feedstock for anaerobic digestion and renewable energy generation.
Our operation supports the circular economy by diverting food waste from landfill and processing it into a useful resource. Our activities include food waste collection, transport, depackaging and feedstock production.
We are looking for a reliable and organised Weighbridge Operator to join our site team and play an important role in the safe, accurate and efficient movement of materials through our facility.
About the Role
As a Weighbridge Operator, you will be the first point of contact for vehicles arriving at and leaving the Waste Organics site.
You will operate the site weighbridge, accurately record vehicle and waste information, check incoming loads, issue instructions to drivers and maintain accurate records of materials entering and leaving the facility.
This is a hands-on operational role that requires excellent attention to detail, good communication skills and a strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate the site weighbridge and associated computer systems accurately and efficiently.
- Record vehicle movements, weights, waste types, waste codes, suppliers/customers and all other information required for operational, regulatory and commercial purposes.
- Weigh vehicles entering and leaving the site and ensure transactions are completed correctly.
- Check delivery documentation and confirm that incoming loads are , authorised and consistent with the site’s permitted and approved waste types.
- Communicate professionally with drivers, hauliers, suppliers and site personnel.
- Coordinate and direct vehicle movements to the appropriate unloading, loading or waiting areas in accordance with site traffic-management procedures.
- Identify and report suspected contamination, unsuitable or non-conforming materials, documentation discrepancies or other concerns relating to incoming loads to the Management Team.Ensure all weighbridge records are accurate, complete and maintained in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements..
- Process weighbridge tickets, delivery documentation, waste transfer documentation and other operational paperwork accurately and promptly.
- Enter and maintain information using site systems and spreadsheets.
- Maintainaccurate stock, tonnage and waste-tracking information to support operational, commercial, environmental and regulatory reporting.
- Liaise with the operations team to coordinate vehicle movements, deliveries, collections and site capacity, helping to avoid congestion, delays and operational disruption.
- Follow all site traffic-management procedures and ensure drivers comply with site rules.
- Maintain a clean, organised and professional weighbridge office and working area.
- Report equipment faults, system issues, incidents and operational concerns promptly.
- Support the wider site team with general administrative and operational duties as required.
- Assist with site records, documentation and other requirements necessary to maintain regulatory approvals, certifications and company standards.
- Contribute proactively to the safe, efficient and smooth operation of the site, providing reasonable assistance with operational, administrative and housekeeping activities outside normal weighbridge duties where required.
- Comply with all company health and safety, environmental and quality procedures, site rules, permit requirements and management instructions.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a weighbridge, waste management, logistics, transport, recycling, manufacturing or similar operational environment is desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when entering weights, vehicle information and other data.
- Good computer skills and confidence using digital systems and Microsoft Office.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with drivers, contractors, customers and colleagues.
- Ability to remain calm and organised in a busy site environment.
- Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records.
- A strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a site team.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience operating a weighbridge or waste-management software system.
- Experience working within waste, recycling, organics, logistics, transport or a similar industrial environment.
- Knowledge of waste types, waste documentation or vehicle movements.
- Experience with weighbridge tickets, delivery records or stock/tonnage reporting.
- Full UK driving licence is advantageous.
- Forklift truck operator training/certification and experience is desirable, though not essential. The role may include forklift operation from time to time, subject to the individual having completed appropriate training, competency assessment and site authorisation.

Working Environment
This role is primarily based at the Waste Organics processing site and involves working in and around an active industrial waste-processing environment.
The successful candidate must be comfortable working around heavy vehicles, site traffic, operational equipment and the normal conditions associated with a food-waste processing facility.
All site safety procedures, PPE requirements and traffic-management rules must be followed at all times.
