Full job description

Overview

We are looking for someone to join our kitchen team of four chefs, in a busy local pub in St Mellion. We need someone to help the main chefs on busy nights and to allow us to expand our opening hours. We need a mature individual who is able to work in a busy kitchen as part of a team. Commercial experience is not essential. More important is a liking for food preparation and attention to detail. Cleanliness is also essential. On site training will be given. Whether you're experienced in restaurant kitchens or eager to expand your culinary knowledge, this role is perfect for motivated individuals ready to make a difference through food.

Duties

Prepare and cook a variety of menu items with precision and flair, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish
Follow food safety protocols diligently to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment
Assist with meal preparation, including chopping, assembling ingredients, and plating dishes attractively
Support the kitchen team during busy service hours by managing multiple tasks efficiently
Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment to uphold hygiene standards
Collaborate with team members to ensure timely delivery of orders and excellent guest service
Serve food to guests when required, providing friendly and professional assistance

Experience

Experience of cooking and liking for food preparation is essential. Prior experience in commercial kitchens is desirable but not essential.
Knowledge of food safety and best practices in kitchen hygiene
Previous kitchen experience involving meal preparation, plating, and serving preferred
Familiarity with culinary techniques and ingredients used in diverse cuisines
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude toward learning and growth
