Full job description

About us: ACR Signs is a growing and busy signage business, and we're looking for an experienced and reliable Part-Time Accounts Assistant to join our team.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys keeping on top of the detail and making sure money comes into the business when it should and suppliers are paid accurately and on time.

The role would suit an experienced accounts person looking for a flexible two-day-a-week position.

The Role

You'll take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our sales and purchase ledgers, working closely with the wider team to keep our accounts organised and up to date.

Your main responsibilities will include:

Managing the sales ledger from invoicing through to payment
Monitoring outstanding customer balances
Proactively chasing overdue invoices by email and telephone
Allocating and recording customer payments
Dealing with customer account queries and resolving any discrepancies
Processing supplier invoices and maintaining the purchase ledger
Checking supplier statements and resolving any differences
Preparing and arranging supplier payments
Ensuring suppliers are paid accurately and on time
Reconciling customer and supplier accounts
Keeping accounting records accurate and up to date
Liaising with customers, suppliers and colleagues regarding account queries
Assisting with general accounts administration as required
Providing information and reports when required by management

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

Experienced in a similar accounts role
Confident managing both sales and purchase ledgers
Comfortable with credit control and chasing outstanding payments
Organised, methodical and highly accurate
Confident communicating with customers and suppliers
Able to work independently and take ownership of their workload
Comfortable using accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Commercially minded and able to recognise when something doesn't look right
Reliable and able to work consistently two days per week

Previous experience within a small or medium-sized business would be particularly useful, as we are looking for someone who is happy to get involved and take ownership rather than only looking after one small part of the accounts function.

AAT qualification or similar would be an advantage but is not essential. Experience and attitude are more important.

Hours & Flexibility

We're looking for approximately 2 days per week, with some flexibility around which days and hours. We're open to making this work around school hours, making it an ideal opportunity for an experienced accounts professional looking for a good work-life balance.

The exact working pattern can be discussed with the successful candidate.
