Help tell the Holdham story.
Holdham is growing quickly.
Across rail, travel, retail and major live experiences, there is an enormous amount happening across the Group - and we are looking for somebody brilliant to help capture it, package it and tell people about it.
We are recruiting a Content & Social Media Marketing Executive to join our Marketing team at our Group headquarters in Durham.
This is a creative, hands-on role for somebody who loves content, understands social media and wants the freedom to produce work that people actually notice.
One day you might be creating graphics, editing video or planning social content from our Durham office.
The next, you could be photographing a train, filming behind the scenes at a major event, capturing content from one of our retail locations or supporting a major campaign.
If you are creative, organised, confident with a camera and full of ideas, we would love to hear from you.
About Holdham
Holdham is a growing group of businesses operating across rail, travel, retail and live experiences.
Our portfolio includes rail experiences, customer-facing retail operations, major seasonal events and an expanding programme of projects across the UK and internationally.
We are an ambitious, entrepreneurial business and we move quickly.
That means our Marketing team is rarely short of something interesting to talk about.
We want the way Holdham looks, sounds and communicates to reflect the ambition of the business behind it.
That is where you come in.
The role
As Content & Social Media Marketing Executive, you will support the delivery of marketing activity across Holdham and its businesses.
You will create content, support social channels, produce photography and video, design marketing materials, help deliver campaigns and assist with maintaining consistent brand standards across the Group.
The role combines:
- Social media management
- Content creation
- Photography
- Videography
- Video editing
- Graphic design
- Campaign support
- Brand compliance
- Marketing administration
This is not a role where you will sit behind a desk producing generic corporate posts all week.
A significant part of the job is being where the interesting things are happening and turning them into great content.
Key responsibilities
Social media
You will help manage and develop Holdham's social media presence across our brands and businesses.
Responsibilities will include:
- Planning and scheduling social media content
- Creating engaging posts, reels, stories and short-form video
- Writing clear and engaging social copy
- Maintaining content calendars
- Identifying reactive content opportunities
- Supporting community management
- Monitoring social media performance
- Identifying trends and opportunities
- Helping grow our audiences
- Ensuring channels remain active, relevant and on-brand
We want somebody who genuinely understands social media rather than simply knowing how to schedule a post.
Content creation
You will create a wide range of digital content for Holdham and its businesses.
This could include:
- Social media content
- Promotional videos
- Reels and short-form video
- Behind-the-scenes content
- Staff and culture content
- Customer-facing campaigns
- Photography
- Graphics
- Recruitment content
- Event content
- Product and promotional content
You will often need to recognise a good content opportunity yourself and turn it around quickly.
Photography and videography
You will help visually document what is happening across Holdham.
You could find yourself photographing or filming:
- Trains
- Rail experiences
- Events
- Stations
- Retail locations
- Customers
- Team members
- Behind-the-scenes activity
- New products and launches
- Major announcements
- Marketing campaigns
You will also edit content for use across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and other digital channels.
You do not need to be a professional filmmaker, but you do need to have a good eye and be able to produce polished, engaging content.
Graphic design
You will support the creation of digital and printed marketing materials across the Group.
This may include:
- Social media graphics
- Posters
- Digital advertising assets
- Email marketing assets
- Event collateral
- Promotional materials
- Customer communications
- Signage and supporting campaign material
You will work within established brand guidelines and help maintain consistency across everything we produce.
Brand compliance
As Holdham grows, maintaining high and consistent brand standards becomes increasingly important.
You will support brand compliance monitoring across the Group.
This may include reviewing:
- Websites
- Social media accounts
- Marketing materials
- Printed materials
- Digital advertising
- Signage
- Customer-facing communications
- Campaign assets
Some Holdham projects also involve licensed brands and external brand partners.
Where appropriate, you will help make sure content complies with applicable brand guidelines and approval requirements.
Excellent attention to detail is essential.
Campaign support
You will support wider marketing campaigns across Holdham.
Depending on the campaign, this could involve:
- Paid social media
- Digital advertising
- Outdoor advertising
- Radio
- Email marketing
- PR activity
- Events
- Launches
- Partnerships
- Seasonal campaigns
You will help make sure campaign assets are created, approved and published when they need to be.
About you
We are much more interested in what you can actually create than whether your CV contains a perfect list of previous job titles.
You may already work in marketing.
You might be a content creator looking to move into a full-time commercial role.
You may have studied marketing, media, photography, videography, design or a related subject.
Or you may simply have built brilliant creative skills yourself.
We are looking for somebody who:
- Genuinely understands social media
- Has a strong eye for content
- Can create high-quality photography and video
- Is comfortable editing short-form video
- Has graphic design capability
- Can write clear and engaging copy
- Understands brand consistency
- Has excellent attention to detail
- Can manage their own workload
- Can work at pace without compromising standards
- Is confident suggesting ideas
- Can take feedback positively
- Works well as part of a team
- Takes ownership
- Is willing to get involved
You should be comfortable working in a fast-moving business where priorities can sometimes change quickly.
What would make you stand out?
Experience with any of the following would be particularly useful:
- Adobe Creative Cloud
- Canva
- Premier Pro or similar video editing software
- DSLR cameras
- Mobile-first content creation
- Instagram Reels
- TikTok
- Meta Business Suite
- Paid social advertising
- Content calendars
- Email marketing
- Website content
- Marketing analytics
- Working across multiple brands
You do not need experience in every area listed above.
A portfolio, social account or examples of previous creative work would be particularly helpful.
Location
The role is primarily based at our Group headquarters in Durham.
This is not, however, a completely desk-based role.
You will regularly need to travel to locations across the Group to capture content and support campaigns.
This may include:
- Railway locations
- Events
- Retail locations
- Partner locations
- Other Holdham sites
UK travel will therefore form part of the role and a full UK driving licence is required.
As Holdham continues to grow internationally, there may also be occasional opportunities for overseas travel.
Because we operate events and customer-facing businesses, occasional evening and weekend work may also be required.
Career development
This role has been created as our Marketing function continues to develop.
That means there is significant opportunity for the right person to grow alongside it.
You will gain exposure to different businesses, brands, campaigns and projects across the Group.
As you develop, there may be opportunities to take greater ownership of:
- Individual brands
- Social channels
- Campaigns
- Content strategy
- Photography and video
- Digital marketing
- Wider areas of the Marketing function
We want talented people to build careers at Holdham rather than remain permanently confined to the job description they joined with.
Our culture
Holdham will not be right for everybody.
We move quickly.
We set high standards.
We expect people to take responsibility for their work.
We want people who notice problems and help solve them.
We want people who bring ideas.
We want people who care about what they produce.
You will be given responsibility and the opportunity to make a real impact.
In return, we expect ownership, good judgement and a genuine commitment to doing things properly.
