Location: Hazel Grove, Stockport, with occasional UK customer/site visits

A Huge Market. A Huge Opportunity.
Following continued growth within the electric vehicle charging sector, Zap Vehicle Charging Ltd is looking for an ambitious, commercially driven and technically capable individual to join our expanding team.
This is a varied role combining:
- Commercial sales and business development
- Lead generation and appointment setting
- Technical support and customer onboarding
- EV charger and software support
- Digital communication and email campaigns
- Database management and development
- Customer relationship management
This is not simply a technical support position, and it is not an order-taking sales role.
We are looking for someone who wants to actively find, develop and win new commercial EV charging customers, while also supporting customers through the technical onboarding process.
The potential market is enormous.
If a UK business has a car park or off-street parking, it could be a potential EV charging prospect.
Potential customers include:
- Offices and business parks
- Factories and industrial premises
- Warehouses and distribution centres
- Schools, colleges and educational establishments
- Hotels and hospitality businesses
- Retail premises and shopping centres
- Car dealerships and garages
- Gyms, leisure centres and sports clubs
- Healthcare and care facilities
- Property management companies
- Fleet operators
- Visitor attractions
- Public and private sector organisations
We therefore want someone who doesn't simply wait for leads to arrive.
We want someone who sees potential customers everywhere.
Salary & Earning Potential£30,000 Basic Salary
Your basic salary will be £30,000 per annum, paid monthly.
However, this is only the starting point.
The position has been designed to substantially reward someone who can combine strong technical support with excellent commercial performance.
Genuine OTE – Approximately £60,000+
Based on the current bonus, commission and technical-support reward structure, we consider approximately £60,000 per annum to be a genuine achievable OTE for a successful candidate.
Strong performers have the opportunity to earn beyond this, as commission above target is currently uncapped.
Commercial Sales Bonus
For qualifying commercial and school project sales:
£20,000 Monthly Net Profit = £1,000 Bonus
Achieve a minimum of £20,000 net profit in a month from qualifying commercial and school sales and you will receive an additional:
£1,000 monthly performance bonus.
Uncapped Commission Above Target
Once you exceed the £20,000 monthly net-profit target, you will additionally receive:
10% Commission on Net Profit Generated Above £20,000
For example, if qualifying completed installations generated £30,000 net profit in a month, you could receive:
- £30,000 basic annual salary
- £1,000 monthly target bonus
- 10% commission on the £10,000 above target = £1,000 additional commission
That would mean £2,000 of additional earnings for that month's sales performance, on top of your basic salary.
The better you perform, the greater your earning potential.
Commission is normally paid in the month following completion of the qualifying installation and is subject to the company's applicable commission terms.
Technical Support Reward
Sales are only one part of the position.
You will also be rewarded for successfully completing the technical onboarding of qualifying school installations onto our management platform.
You will receive:
£100 for each qualifying school successfully set up and brought fully operational on the TAP system.
Current anticipated volumes are approximately 10–15 schools per month, although volumes will naturally fluctuate.
For example:
- 10 completed schools = £1,000
- 15 completed schools = £1,500
This technical reward sits alongside the commercial sales bonus and commission structure, subject to the company's applicable bonus terms.
Self-Generated Commercial Sales
This is a particularly important part of the role.
While ZAP will provide sales opportunities and company-generated leads, the successful candidate will also be expected to actively generate their own commercial opportunities.
You should be comfortable researching businesses, identifying decision-makers, making introductions and creating opportunities rather than relying exclusively on enquiries generated by somebody else.
Your activities will include:
- Identifying UK businesses with suitable parking
- Building your own commercial prospect database
- Telephone prospecting
- Email prospecting and targeted mailshots
- Researching prospective businesses online
- Using LinkedIn and other appropriate platforms to identify decision-makers
- Contacting existing customers regarding additional opportunities
- Developing referral opportunities
- Following up previous enquiries
- Re-engaging dormant prospects
- Booking surveys and appointments
- Developing opportunities through to quotation and installation
- Maintaining a healthy and active sales pipeline
- Working consistently towards monthly sales and profitability targets
If you can identify a company with a car park, you have identified a potential conversation.
We want somebody who understands that mentality.
OZEV Grants – Helping Make the Sale Easier
One of the advantages of selling EV charging is the availability of government support for certain eligible installations.
Where applicable, you will work with customers to identify relevant OZEV grant schemes and funding opportunities that may contribute towards their installation costs.
This can make the commercial conversation considerably easier.
Rather than simply asking a business to purchase EV charging infrastructure, you can help them understand:
- Why EV charging may benefit their organisation
- What type of installation could suit their requirements
- Whether an applicable OZEV scheme may be available
- How eligible funding could potentially reduce their installation costs
- How ZAP can manage the process from initial enquiry through to installation and activation
Full training will be provided on the applicable OZEV schemes, eligibility requirements and processes.
You do not need to arrive as an EV charging expert.
We can teach you EV charging. We need you to bring the drive, confidence and determination to create opportunities.
Technical Support & Customer Onboarding
Alongside business development, you will help ensure our commercial, educational and domestic customers have a smooth transition from installation to becoming fully operational.
This will include:
- Connecting EV chargers to online back-office management systems
- Setting up chargers on the TAP management platform
- Creating customer accounts
- Creating tariffs and user groups
- Assisting customers with EV charging apps
- Setting up online payment facilities where applicable
- Providing remote first-line technical support
- Troubleshooting connectivity, Wi-Fi, network and app issues
- Supporting engineers during commissioning
- Liaising with manufacturers and software providers where necessary
- Ensuring commercial customers understand how to operate their systems
- Providing an excellent customer handover experience
- Occasionally attending customer sites where remote support isn't sufficient
Full technical and product training will be provided.
Digital Marketing, Databases & Lead Generation
You will also work alongside our Sales and Sales Administration teams to maximise the value of our customer and prospect databases.
Responsibilities will include:
- Keeping databases clean, accurate and up to date
- Researching and adding appropriate prospective commercial customers
- Segmenting databases for targeted campaigns
- Conducting regular company mailshots
- Creating targeted email campaigns
- Supporting social media communications
- Promoting ZAP's latest commercial offers
- Providing first-response communication to new enquiries
- Ensuring leads are recorded and followed up
- Identifying opportunities within existing customer data
We don't see a database as simply an administrative requirement.
We see it as thousands of potential conversations and future customers.
Working Hours
The standard working week is:
Monday to Friday, 9:00am–4:00pm
35 hours per week
Alternative hours, such as 8:00am–3:00pm, may be considered by mutual agreement.
There is no standard weekend working requirement, although flexibility may occasionally be required depending on customer or operational requirements.
Company Vehicle & Travel
The role may occasionally require travel to commercial customers, schools, colleges or installation sites.
Where required, a company vehicle fully insured for authorised business use can be provided.
Alternatively, where agreed, candidates using their own vehicle for authorised business travel can receive a mileage allowance in accordance with the company's applicable mileage policy.
Who Are We Looking For?
We are looking for someone who is:
- Commercially ambitious
- Confident speaking to business owners and decision-makers
- Comfortable generating their own sales leads
- Motivated by targets and commission
- Technically minded
- Confident using computers, apps and online platforms
- Comfortable learning new software and hardware
- An excellent communicator
- Highly organised
- Persistent without being pushy
- Capable of managing multiple customers and projects simultaneously
- Comfortable working independently
- Equally comfortable working as part of a wider Sales and Administration team
- Proactive rather than someone who waits to be given their next task
Previous experience in B2B sales, business development, IT support, telecoms, energy, renewables, EV charging or another technical industry would be advantageous.
However, direct EV charging experience is not essential, as full training will be provided.
What We Offer
The successful candidate will receive:
- £30,000 basic salary
- Genuine OTE of approximately £60,000+
- £1,000 monthly sales target bonus when qualifying targets are achieved
- 10% commission on qualifying net profit above the monthly target
- £100 technical reward for each qualifying school successfully brought fully operational onto TAP
- Company vehicle where required
- 35-hour Monday-to-Friday working week
- 28 days' paid holiday inclusive of public holidays
- Workplace pension
- Full EV charger product training
- Full technical systems training
- OZEV grant and funding training
- Existing company-generated sales opportunities
- Freedom to generate and develop your own commercial customer portfolio
- Support from an established Sales and Sales Administration team
- Genuine opportunities to develop as the company continues to grow
We Want an Opportunity Creator
Ultimately, this position will suit somebody who enjoys having several different responsibilities and wants their earnings to reflect their performance.
We don't want somebody who simply sits waiting for the next incoming enquiry.
We want someone who can drive through a business park and see potential customers.
Someone who can identify a hotel with 100 parking spaces and see an opportunity.
Someone who can speak to a company, understand what they need, explain how EV charging could benefit them, explore whether grant assistance is available, arrange the survey and ultimately help turn that conversation into an installation.
Find the opportunity.
Start the conversation.
Build the relationship.
Win the business.
If that sounds like you, we'd like to hear from you.
