About The Organisation

NHS Lanarkshire is comprised of Acute Services (which currently provide hospital based services over 3 main sites), Corporate & Property & Support Services, North and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnerships which provide integrated primary healthcare and social care services to local communities and surrounding areas.

The Role

The Assistant Maintenance Manager (Contracts) plays a key role in managing the external specialist contractors who support NHS Lanarkshire’s PSSD Maintenance Department. The post holder will ensure that contracted services are delivered safely, compliantly, and to the required standard, helping to maintain a safe and functional environment for staff, patients, and visitors. Working as part of the Maintenance Management Team, the role supports the effective delivery and ongoing improvement of contracted services, adjusting to changing operational and organisational needs. You will act as the main point of contact for contractors on daytoday contractual, commercial, and performance matters.

In this key role, you will:

Contract & Supplier Management

Take responsibility for managing contracts throughout their full lifecycle, from developing specifications and scopes of work through mobilisation, performance monitoring, review, and contract closeout.
Support the development of clear and practical scopes of work for PPM contracts, project works, and framework agreements.
Oversee contracts once awarded, ensuring services are mobilised correctly and continue to meet contractual requirements.
Monitor operational and financial performance, ensuring compliance with SLAs, Standing Financial Instructions, and statutory obligations.
Secure timely renewals, certifications, and approvals to maintain service continuity and legal and regulatory compliance.
Manage a varied portfolio of contracts, including longterm and technically complex agreements, balancing priorities across multiple work streams.
Encourage open and collaborative working relationships with contractors and internal teams, ensuring expectations and responsibilities are clearly understood

Performance & Compliance

Maintain accurate and uptodate contract records, including registers, KPI information, and supporting documentation.
Focus on achieving value for money, considering service quality, performance, and overall cost.
Prepare regular financial updates and performance reports, including KPI data and contractor performance commentary.
Take part in supplier performance meetings, helping to identify issues, agree actions, and drive service improvement.
Track and monitor performance against agreed KPIs, SLAs, and statutory requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

Work closely with internal colleagues, including Finance, Procurement, and Estates teams, to support effective contract and supplier management.
Build positive working relationships with contractors, encouraging a solutionsfocused approach to performance and improvement.
Handle contractual and commercial queries, and support the resolution of disputes or issues where they arise.
Attend and contribute to technical working groups and contractrelated meetings when required.
Support modern ways of working, including the use of Microsoft 365 tools, to improve communication, recordkeeping, and transparency.
Ensure accurate records are maintained for maintenance activity, monitoring, incidents, or service issues.

What You'll Bring:

The post holder requires having knowledge of the use of all equipment used for the safe and reliable maintenance, testing and operation of all building, engineering and grounds maintenance services, plant & equipment.
Understand and use complex computer management systems related to equipment and building service controls and manage PC based control networks.
Understand and use all specialist equipment in relation to the various Authorised Person duties.
The use of a range of office equipment including computer based and specialised data management software, computer-aided drawing (CAD) software and equipment, etc.
A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence
