Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a dynamic financial services environment. The successful candidate will support the accounts department by managing various financial tasks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all processes. Prior experience with accounting software and data entry is essential, and familiarity with systems such as Workday, Sage, XERO, People Software, or similar platforms will be highly advantageous. This paid position is ideal for individuals looking to build a career in finance and accounting.

Responsibilities

Assist with accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments
Support data entry activities related to financial transactions and account records
Reconcile accounts using various accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or PeopleSoft
Maintain organised records of financial documents and correspondence
Support month-end and year-end closing procedures under supervision
Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations
Utilise systems such as Workday for payroll and financial management tasks
Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes and procedures

Qualifications

Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or PeopleSoft is desirable
Familiarity with Workday or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is a plus
Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Knowledge of accounts payable processes and basic financial principles
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Previous experience within financial services or related industries is advantageous
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
A recognised qualification in accounting or finance is preferred but not essential
