Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Groundsperson/Gardener to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing outdoor landscapes, ensuring the health and aesthetics of various green spaces. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for horticulture, landscaping, and outdoor maintenance to contribute to our organisation’s environmental and visual standards. The position involves working outdoors in all weather conditions and requires a proactive approach to landscape care.

Duties

Carry out landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, pruning, planting, and fertilising to promote healthy growth and visual appeal.
Operate mechanical equipment such as excavators, irrigation systems, and power tools safely and efficiently.
Use hand tools for detailed gardening work, including trimming, edging, and planting.
Maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution across different landscaped areas.
Conduct routine inspections of gardens and green spaces to identify issues requiring attention or repair.
Assist with construction or renovation projects related to landscaping or outdoor structures as needed.
Perform general maintenance tasks to keep outdoor areas clean, safe, and well-organised.
Support other team members in specialised horticultural activities or landscaping projects.

Qualifications

Proven experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, or horticulture is highly desirable.
Mechanical knowledge related to operating equipment such as excavators and irrigation systems is advantageous.
Skilled in the use of hand tools and power tools for gardening and maintenance tasks.
Knowledge of construction principles relevant to outdoor projects is beneficial.
Strong understanding of horticultural practices, plant care, and environmental sustainability principles.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions with physical stamina for manual labour tasks.
Good organisational skills with attention to detail in maintaining landscapes and equipment.
Relevant qualifications or certifications in horticulture or landscape management are a plus but not essential. This role offers an engaging environment for those passionate about outdoor work, providing opportunities for skill development across various aspects of landscape care and maintenance while contributing positively to our green spaces.
