Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home

Location: LiverpoolSalary: £39,840 per annum (inclusive of an agreed number of sleep-in duties)Contract: Full Time

About Positive Futures Care Ltd

Positive Futures Care Ltd provides safe, nurturing and trauma-informed residential care for children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs.

Our new solo-bedded home in Liverpool has been designed to provide highly individualised care within a therapeutic, PACE-informed environment. Our aim is to create a home where children feel safe, valued and supported to achieve positive outcomes while developing the skills and confidence needed for adulthood.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding organisation and play a key role in shaping the culture, standards and success of a new children’s home from the very beginning.

Salary & Working Pattern

Salary: £39,840 per annum, inclusive of an agreed number of sleep-in duties.

Working Pattern:

2 days on / 4 days off, including sleep-ins.
Two protected administration days per month, off the floor, to complete audits, care planning, supervision and leadership responsibilities.
Participation in the management on-call rota (paid separately in line with company policy).

To ensure effective leadership and continuity, the Deputy Manager will provide management cover during periods of Registered Manager absence, working a temporary Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm pattern where required.

The annual salary remains payable in full during these periods regardless of whether sleep-ins are undertaken.

About the Role

Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will provide operational leadership and help ensure the home consistently delivers exceptional care, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.

You will support the development of the staff team, oversee high-quality care planning, monitor standards across the home and promote a therapeutic culture built around positive relationships and child-centred practice.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker looking to progress, or an existing Deputy Manager seeking a new challenge within a supportive and ambitious organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day leadership and management of the home.
Lead shifts and provide management oversight in the Registered Manager’s absence.
Promote and embed trauma-informed and PACE-informed practice throughout the service.
Ensure children’s care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans remain current, effective and outcome focused.
Complete audits and quality assurance checks to maintain high standards of practice and documentation.
Support recruitment, induction, supervision and development of the staff team.
Monitor safeguarding practice and ensure all concerns are managed in line with statutory guidance and company procedures.
Build effective working relationships with local authorities, schools, healthcare professionals and partner agencies.
Participate in the management on-call rota, providing advice and decision-making support outside normal working hours.

Essential Requirements

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
Experience in a senior or leadership role within a children’s residential setting.
Good understanding of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and child-centred practice.
Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards the qualification.
Experience supporting children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
Experience of working within a therapeutic or trauma-informed model of care.
