About the role: Assistant Ranger

We are seeking a passionate and practical Assistant Ranger to help manage and enhance our stunning 400-acre rural estate at Merrist Wood College. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a unique environment that supports the next generation of professionals in arboriculture, forestry, countryside management, horticulture and other land-based industries.

As Assistant Ranger, you will play a vital role in maintaining our woodlands, conservation areas, green spaces and countryside habitats, ensuring they are safe, attractive, environmentally sustainable and fully supportive of student learning.

This is a permanent, full-time role working 37 hours per week based at our Merrist Wood College campus.

What do you need to be a successful Assistant Ranger at Activate Learning?

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with:

Experience in countryside, estate, woodland or land-based management.
Practical skills in woodland maintenance, habitat management and conservation work.
Experience operating land-based machinery and equipment.
A strong understanding of health and safety and environmental best practice.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
The ability to organise work effectively and work independently when required.
A passion for conservation, sustainability and supporting learner development.
