Full job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a professional and reliable Class 2 HGV Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of plant and equipment primarily utilising flatbed lorries for delivery purposes. The role will also include the use of a tipper/grab lorry whilst also including warehouse operative duties. Candidates must possess a valid Class 2 licence and have previous experience in driving heavy goods vehicles, tipper/grab lorries, forklifts and have plant loading experience.

Duties

Operate flatbed lorries in compliance with all safety regulations and company policies
Deliver plant, machinery and goods to various locations in a timely and professional manner
Ensure the secure loading and unloading of cargo, adhering to weight limits and safety standards
Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery notes and vehicle logs
Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to identify any maintenance needs or safety issues
Maintain a clean and organised vehicle, ensuring it is presentable at all times
Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members regarding delivery schedules or issues encountered during transit
Undertake duties covering site muck away including use of grab lorry, site clean down and tipping.
Duties will also include undertaking general warehouse operations covering forklift driving, unloading/loading goods/materials, machinery clean down and general warehouse duties.

Skills

Valid Class 2 (Category C) HGV licence with a clean driving record
Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with flatbed vehicles or similar heavy goods vehicles
Plant tickets preferred to show competence, forklift ticket also required.
Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for safe transportation
Delivery driver experience is highly desirable, demonstrating reliability and punctuality
Excellent organisational skills to manage routes efficiently and handle paperwork accurately
Ability to operate flatbed equipment safely, including securing loads properly
Good communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members

This role requires a dedicated individual committed to safe driving practices, punctuality, and delivering exceptional service. The position offers an engaging work environment for experienced drivers eager to utilise their skills within a professional setting.

40 hours per week, generally between 7.30 am and 4pm.

Pay: £28,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
