Full job description

Job Purpose

To provide comprehensive administrative support to the SENDCo and contribute to the effective delivery of provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The postholder will maintain accurate records, coordinate statutory processes, liaise with families and external agencies, and ensure compliance with current SEND legislation and guidance.

Given the complex and evolving nature of SEND provision, applicants must have current professional experience of working within the SEND landscape.

Key Responsibilities

SEND Administration

Provide dedicated administrative support to the SENDCo.
Maintain accurate and confidential SEND records.
Coordinate annual reviews and SEND review meetings.
Prepare agendas, reports and documentation for meetings.
Track review dates, referrals, assessments and outcomes.
Support administration relating to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Liaise with parents, carers, schools, local authority services and external professionals.
Maintain provision maps and intervention records as directed by the SENDCo.
Support the monitoring of SEND provision and pupil progress.

Record Keeping and Compliance

Ensure SEND records meet statutory requirements.
Maintain secure and confidential filing systems.
Support the completion of local authority returns and reporting requirements.
Ensure documentation complies with data protection requirements and school policies.

Communication and Partnership Working

Act as a professional point of contact for families and professionals.
Draft correspondence and communications relating to SEND matters.
Build effective relationships with parents and external agencies.
Support the school's inclusive ethos and commitment to meeting the needs of all learners.

Person Specification: SEND Administrator

Essential

Qualifications

GCSE Grade 5/C or above in English and Mathematics.

Experience

Current (within the last 3 years) experience of working within the SEND sector or supporting SEND provision in a professional capacity.
Experience supporting SEND processes, reviews, referrals or EHCP administration.
Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
Experience working within an administrative role.

Knowledge

A secure understanding of the current SEND landscape, including the SEND Code of Practice.
Understanding of EHCPs, annual reviews and multi-agency working.
Knowledge of data protection and confidentiality requirements.

Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong organisational skills.
Ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities.
Competent use of Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to maintain positive professional relationships with families and external agencies.
