Role – Auto Electrician
Salary – £40405 p.a. plus 30% shift allowance
Location - Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, DN16 1XA
What you need to know about the role
We’re looking for experienced, reliable, practical and safety-minded Auto Electrician to carry out diagnosis, repair, installation, and preventative maintenance of electrical and electronic systems on a diverse fleet of heavy plant, HGVs, forklift trucks, vacuum jetting tankers, and specialist industrial equipment.
The role is responsible for ensuring all vehicle and plant electrical systems are maintained to a high standard, supporting safe, reliable, and efficient operation across the business.
What you’ll be doing
Diagnose and repair faults on 12V, 24V, and CAN-bus electrical systems.
Trace and rectify wiring faults, short circuits, open circuits, poor earths, and intermittent issues.
Repair and replace wiring harnesses, connectors, relays, switches, sensors, and control modules.
Diagnose faults using OEM and aftermarket diagnostic equipment.
Calibrate and test electrical systems following repair.
Install and commission electrical accessories and systems including:
LED lighting and beacons
Reverse cameras and monitoring systems
Telematics and GPS equipment
Safety systems and alarms
Modify and fabricate wiring looms as required.
What we need to know about you
Recognised qualification in Auto Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Proven experience as an Auto Electrician working on commercial vehicles, heavy plant, or industrial equipment.
Strong knowledge of 12V and 24V systems.
Experience with CAN-bus diagnostics.
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams.
Full UK driving licence.
Excellent electrical fault-finding ability.
Strong understanding of electronic control systems.
Ability to work independently and methodically.
Good attention to detail.
Basic computer literacy.
Desirable:
Experience working on heavy plant and HGVs.
Knowledge of telematics, camera systems, and safety equipment.
