Job Summary

It all begins with the Receipt & Distribution Assistant. You are the first contact point of our department, you begin the process of the end user (the Patient) receiving the medical support they need, by co-ordinating the timely receipt, organisation and re-distribution of medical supplies. Working in collaboration with couriers and delivery drivers, the Warehouse Supervisor and Manager and our Racetrack Logistics & Materials Management teams across the Trust, this can be a varied role with countless possibilities to grow your knowledge and skills. Leeds Teaching Hospitals is one of the largest NHS trusts within the UK and within the Supplies & Procurement department, we are proud to be constantly striving for new innovations around sustainability and waste reduction. You will see first-hand how we go about this. There are regular opportunities for career progression and this is fully supported by all levels of management. This role is based at our Receipt & Distribution facility, at St James Hospital site. We are looking for two full time (37.5 Hrs/week) Mon-Fri 8am-4pm There will be driving (Luton van) responsibilities with at least one of these vacancies.

The Supplies and Procurement department is made up of approximately 140 staff and the various teams are based throughout the Trust. (St James University Hospital, Leeds General Infirmary, Chapel Allerton, Seacroft and Wharfedale Hospital). The department as a whole consists of the contracting sections for both Clinical and Non-Clinical, e- Procurement, Materials Management (Supply Chain), Scan4Safety and ICT Procurement. You will be based at Dolly Lane, SJUH but you will travel across sites when required. At every step of the process, our priority is always our end user (the Patient) although this job can be physically challenging, it offers a great sense of job-satisfaction and our team members are proud to work for Leeds Teaching Hospitals. This is an inclusive and social working environment, so good people skills are a must. You will be shown all areas of Procurement & Supplies, this could be the beginning of an exciting new career!

Good attention to detail to ensure accurate picking, packing and stock control.
Strong commitment to health and safety procedures.
Physically fit and capable of manual handling duties.
Able to work effectively as part of a team.
Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt.
Basic numeracy and IT skills, including use of scanners and warehouse systems.
Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to use initiative
