Experienced Legal Administrator / Receptionist

BLZ Solicitors – Cheadle, Stockport
£24,000–£28,000 per year, depending on experience
Monday to Friday, 9.30am–4.30pm
Permanent, office-based position

BLZ Solicitors is a modern and growing law firm based in Cheadle, Stockport. We pride ourselves on providing a friendly, professional and personal service to our clients.

We are looking for an experienced Legal Administrator/Receptionist to join our team and take responsibility for the day-to-day reception and administrative duties within the firm.

This is a varied and important role. You will often be the first point of contact for our clients and will provide administrative support to our solicitors, file handlers and other members of staff.

The role

Your responsibilities will include:

Answering all incoming telephone calls in a friendly and professional manner;
Identifying the nature of each call and transferring it to the appropriate person or department;
Taking accurate messages where necessary;
Greeting clients, visitors and other professionals attending the office;
Dealing with incoming and outgoing post;
Opening new client files on our case-management system;
Assisting with the client onboarding and sign-up process;
Requesting and obtaining identification and other required documentation from clients;
Carrying out the relevant client identification and onboarding checks;
Completing applications for after-the-event insurance;
Dealing with invoices and general accounts administration;
Maintaining accurate electronic records;
Helping to keep the reception and general office areas organised and professional;
Assisting with office supplies and general office administration; and
Providing wider administrative support to the firm as required.

About you

We are looking for someone who has substantial previous experience in a legal administrative, legal secretarial or law-firm receptionist role.

The successful candidate will:

Have a good understanding of how a solicitors’ office operates;
Be confident dealing with clients over the telephone and in person;
Have an excellent and professional telephone manner;
Be highly organised and able to manage several tasks at the same time;
Have strong attention to detail;
Be comfortable working independently without close supervision;
Take a proactive approach to identifying and dealing with administrative tasks;
Be reliable, punctual and professional;
Understand the importance of client confidentiality;
Have good computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel; and
Work well as part of a friendly and busy team.

Previous experience using a legal case-management system would be advantageous.

This role would suit an experienced legal administrator, legal secretary or receptionist who enjoys a varied position and is confident taking responsibility for the smooth running of a busy office.

Please note that this is an office-based position at our Cheadle, Stockport office. It is not a remote or hybrid-working role.

Pay: £24,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
