Full job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our team. This is a part-time position working 2 longer days or 3 shorter days per week (16 hours) , paying £14.50 per hour.

In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting accounts payable processes, and ensuring smooth financial operations. Proficiency in Xero is essential to ensure you are able to hit the ground running. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to develop their accounting skills within a fast-paced, supportive environment.

Your key duties in this Accounts Assistant role will include but are not limited to:

Manage data entry tasks related to accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger transactions using Xero accounting software
Processing invoices and expense claims accurately and promptly
Support the reconciliation of accounts
Maintain organized records of financial documents, including invoices, receipts, and statements
Monitor outstanding payments and follow up on overdue accounts to support cash flow management
Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes by identifying efficiencies and supporting system updates

Requirements

Proven experience with accounting software such as Xero
Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Familiarity with accounts payable procedures
Knowledge of financial services industry practices is a plus
Ability to adapt quickly to new systems
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Strong communication skills to collaborate within a team environment

Skills and Experience required to be considered for this role:

Experience using Xero
Good understanding of nominal ledger codes and cost coding.
Strong spreadsheet skills, including Microsoft Excel.
Ability to assist with management accounts preparation.
Flexible and willing to undertake ad hoc finance and accounting tasks.
