Full job description

Central Plant Hire is a family run business hiring mini diggers and dumpers throughout Sussex and Surrey, based between Crawley and Horsham, West Sussex.

We are looking to recruit a dedicated, hardworking and motivated Plant Mechanic/Yard Man based out of our yard in Faygate, West Sussex.

We take pride in our equipment being regularly maintained and serviced. Our customers return time and time again and we always commit to supplying quality equipment that is reliable.

The successful candidate will have mechanical knowledge with experience in the Plant industry and be proficient in repairing, maintaining and servicing plant equipment including mini diggers, excavators and dumpers, attending on site breakdowns where necessary. The role involves diagnosing, fault finding and repairing.

Skills in hydraulics, electrical work and welding would be advantageous.

The ability to work under pressure is essential and completing paperwork where necessary to ensure our equipment is ready for hire and fit for purpose.

A professional recognised qualification in Plant maintenance and repair would be ideal; we are looking for someone with strong mechanical and technical skills and would be responsible for:

- Maintaining, servicing and repairing the hire fleet, including bodywork repairs.

- Site visits attending breakdowns and repairing plant.

- Completing any necessary paperwork.

- Clean all returned hire equipment ready for rehire.

- Prepare plant for rehire.

- Maintaining yard, keeping clean and tidy.

- Maintain workshop and ancillary equipment.

- Any other duties as required.

The successful candidate will have:

- Full valid driving licence.

- Ability to follow Health and Safety with a high regard.

- Plant Mechanic experience.

- Good communication and interpersonal skills.

- Flexibility.

- Must be a team player as well as able to work under own initiative.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £35,000.00-£36,400.00 per year
