Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, support kitchen operations, and contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills within a professional hospitality environment, working alongside experienced chefs to ensure high standards of food safety and quality. The position is paid and suitable for individuals passionate about food production and team management.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing ingredients and cooking dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards
Support senior chefs in the execution of daily kitchen operations, including food presentation and plating
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work stations, adhering to food safety regulations
Supervise junior staff during shifts, providing guidance on food preparation and safety procedures
Ensure all food production meets quality standards and is delivered on time
Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation and storage organisation
Contribute to the development of new menu items by providing input based on culinary knowledge and experience
Support the team during service hours, ensuring smooth operation of the kitchen

Skills

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen operations within a hospitality or restaurant setting
Supervising experience with the ability to manage team members effectively
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and practices
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Leadership qualities with a proactive approach to problem-solving and team support
Good understanding of culinary techniques and food presentation skills
Experience in restaurant service or hospitality industry is highly desirable
Ability to work collaboratively within a team while maintaining high standards of professionalism
