Outline of role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of full turnkey mechanical and electrical projects while supporting the continued growth of key client accounts.
This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of M&E, HVAC, decarbonisation, asset replacement and retail projects from initial engagement and survey through to design, procurement, delivery, commissioning, handover and final account. Acting as the operational lead, you will build strong client relationships, drive commercial performance, identify growth opportunities and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest standards.
Working closely with internal teams, clients, consultants and delivery partners, you will provide leadership across multiple projects while supporting the development of Project Managers and wider delivery teams.
Main responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day management of client relationships, providing a clear point of accountability and building trusted partnerships with stakeholders.
- Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple M&E projects from pre-construction through to final account.
- Develop and maintain account plans, managing project pipelines, opportunities, risks and growth priorities.
- Identify and support new business opportunities, repeat work and long-term account development.
- Lead project surveys, design reviews, constructability reviews and project start-up meetings.
- Oversee subcontractor and supplier performance, ensuring programme, quality, safety and commissioning requirements are achieved.
- Manage project programmes, labour, materials, technical submissions, variations, risks and dependencies.
- Ensure commissioning, training, documentation, defects management and handover requirements are completed successfully.
- Lead project and account-level commercial performance, including budgets, forecasting, cost-to-complete reviews, variations and final accounts.
- Produce accurate forecasting and reporting, providing clear visibility of risks, opportunities and recovery actions.
- Support and develop Project Managers and wider delivery teams through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
- Promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with health and safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate project records, performance dashboards and governance processes.
- Lead lessons learned reviews and drive continuous improvement across projects and accounts.
Knowledge and experience required
Essential
-
Proven senior project management experience within mechanical, electrical, HVAC, building services or a related construction environment.
- Experience delivering multiple concurrent projects within fast-paced, live operational environments.
- Strong client-facing and account management experience with a proven ability to build long-term relationships and secure repeat business.
- Experience delivering decarbonisation projects, heat pumps, AHUs, ventilation systems, controls/BEMS, refrigeration interfaces or major HVAC asset replacement projects.
- Strong commercial awareness, including budgeting, forecasting, procurement, change control, payment applications and final accounts.
- Experience leading Project Managers, site teams, subcontractors and multidisciplinary delivery teams.
- Strong understanding of design coordination, commissioning, handover and M&E technical interfaces.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations, construction health and safety requirements and quality management processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Project (or equivalent project planning software).
- Full UK driving licence with willingness to travel nationally.

Experience working with Tesco or other major multi-site retail clients.
- Experience operating under framework agreements and delivering multi-site programmes.
- Membership of a relevant professional body such as CIBSE, CIOB, APM or an engineering institution.

Qualifications
Essential

SMSTS or equivalent recognised site management safety qualification.
- CSCS card appropriate to the role.
Desirable
-
Qualification in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or Project Management.
- Asbestos Awareness certification (or willingness to obtain).
- First Aid at Work certification (or willingness to obtain).
