Abbey Vet Clinic is looking for an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly, supportive, and forward-thinking team in Arbroath.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident clinician ready to take the next step in their career within a well-established two-site practice. The role offers the chance to develop clinical interests, take on additional responsibility, and contribute to a collaborative team culture that values high standards of care and continuous improvement.

You will enjoy a varied and rewarding first opinion caseload, with genuine clinical freedom to work cases to a high standard. The work includes a broad mix of routine and more complex medical and surgical cases such as pyometras, lump removals, GI foreign bodies, and dentistry. The practice also works closely with Cats Protection, running a dedicated cat clinic that adds further variety to the caseload.

We are committed to supporting individual development and are happy to invest in further training, certificates, new services, or equipment to help you progress in your areas of interest.

Practice Highlights

Well-established two-site small animal practice (Arbroath and Forfar)
Modern facilities including digital radiography and IDEXX in-house laboratory
iM3 dental equipment and recently installed dental X-ray in Arbroath
Strong focus on dentistry, surgery, and varied first opinion caseload
Dedicated cat clinic in collaboration with Cats Protection
Experienced and proactive nursing team delivering nurse-led clinics
Supportive culture with strong collaboration between vets and RVNs
Small, stable clinical team (4 vets and 5 RVNs) promoting continuity and teamwork

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon, you will contribute to delivering high-quality patient and client care across a varied caseload.

Deliver consultations, diagnostics, medical and surgical treatment
Manage routine and complex first opinion cases
Perform procedures including soft tissue surgery and dentistry
Work collaboratively with a supportive veterinary and nursing team
Contribute to clinical standards and ongoing practice development
Participate in a shared Saturday morning rota
No out-of-hours requirement

Working Pattern:

Full-time: 40 hours per week over 4 or 5 days (flexible)
Flexible and part-time working options available
Saturday morning rota shared fairly across the team
No OOH commitment
