Full job description

Quality Inspector — Job Specification

Role Overview

The Quality Inspector ensures products, materials, and processes meet defined specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer standards. The role performs incoming, in‑process, and final inspections; documents results; identifies nonconformities; and supports corrective and preventive actions to drive continuous improvement.

Availability for standard shifts; overtime or weekends may be required to support production needs.

Shift: [e.g., Day shift; flexibility for evenings/weekends as needed].

Key Responsibilities

Conduct incoming, in‑process, and final inspections using calibrated tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, Laser Scanner, against drawings and specifications.
Verify conformance of materials and finished goods; accept, reject, or segregate items and initiate nonconformance reports (NCRs).
Perform visual, dimensional, and functional tests; record inspection results, measurements, and lot traceability in quality systems.
Monitor production operations for compliance with standards; recommend and follow up on process adjustments.
Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions
Maintain and handle measurement equipment, ensuring calibration status, proper use, and safe operation.
Assist with internal and external audits; ensure adherence to company procedures, industry standards, and applicable regulations.
Communicate quality issues and trends to production, engineering, and quality leadership; escalate critical issues promptly.
Contribute to training of operators on quality standards, defect recognition, and basic inspection techniques.
Maintain a safe, clean work environment and comply with EHS policies.

Essential Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
1–3 years of experience in quality inspection, quality control, or manufacturing operations.
Proficiency reading and interpreting engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and technical specifications.
Hands-on capability with common inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges) and familiarity with electronic/automated systems (e.g., CMM, scanner technology) as applicable.
Working knowledge of quality systems and documentation (NCRs, lot records, control plans, sampling plans).
Competence with basic math, measurement conversions, and data entry; working knowledge of MS Office or equivalent.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management; able to work independently and in teams.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods; bend, reach, and handle parts; lift up to 50 lb (as applicable to role).
Fine motor skills for precision measurement and part handling.
Work in manufacturing environment with PPE requirements; exposure to shop-floor noise and material handling.
