Our village pub entering an exciting new chapter. Alongside our traditional pub offering, we’re launching Coast at The Flying Fish, serving quality food, showing live sport, hosting regular entertainment and creating a true community hub.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Front of House Team Member who is also a Personal Licence Holder and able to fulfil the role of Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS).
This is a hands-on role where you’ll be working behind the bar and on the restaurant floor while helping to oversee the day-to-day operation of a busy village pub. You’ll play an important role in delivering exceptional customer service, supporting your colleagues and ensuring the business operates safely and in compliance with licensing legislation.
Responsibilities
Front of House
- Deliver exceptional customer service at all times.
- Welcome customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
- Take food and drink orders and serve customers efficiently.
- Operate the SumUp Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Handle cash and card payments accurately.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the pub.
- Support live sport, entertainment and special events.
- Work closely with the kitchen and front of house team.
- Help create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages repeat business.
- Assist with stock control and weekly ordering.
- Support the Front of House Manager with the smooth running of each shift.
Designated Premises Supervisor Responsibilities
- Act as the Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS).
- Hold and maintain a valid Personal Licence.
- Ensure compliance with the Licensing Act 2003.
- Promote and uphold the four licensing objectives.
- Enforce Challenge 25 procedures.
- Prevent underage alcohol sales.
- Refuse service where appropriate.
- Maintain incident and refusals records.
- Promote responsible alcohol retailing.
- Support licensing compliance and staff training.
- Liaise with Licensing Officers, Police and Environmental Health when required.
Essential Requirements
- Current Personal Licence Holder (APLH qualified).
- Eligible to act as Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a pub, bar or hospitality environment.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Friendly, confident and approachable.
- Reliable and well organised.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- Flexible to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Desirable Skills
- Supervisory experience within hospitality.
- Food Safety qualification.
- First Aid qualification.
- Experience using SumUp or similar Point of Sale systems.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Cellar management experience (advantageous).

Schedule
- Full-time
- 30-37.5 hours per week
- Day and evening shifts
- Weekend availability

Experience
- Hospitality: Minimum 3 years (preferred)
- Personal Licence Holder: Minimum 2 years (preferred)
Licence / Certification
- Personal Licence (APLH) – Required
- Eligible to be named as the Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS)
