About Us
At Woodway Engineering, we help keep frontline services safe by supplying innovative emergency vehicle lighting, warning and safety solutions to customers throughout the UK. Combining technical expertise with a customer-focused approach, we work closely with police, fire, ambulance and specialist vehicle operators to deliver high-quality products and support. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a talented Marketing & Communications Lead to help strengthen our brand, enhance customer engagement and support the delivery of our strategic business objectives.
Job purpose
To lead Woodway's marketing and communications function, implementing the marketing strategy, brand and budget, and translating commercial objectives into compelling communications. The role is to act as the bridge between the marketing and sales departments, coordinating campaigns, sales tools and customer-facing content that directly support revenue growth, new product launches and market expansion. The post-holder will line-manage the Digital Marketing & Events Coordinator role and manage external suppliers to deliver consistent, high-quality output across all marketing channels.
Key responsibilities
Strategy, leadership & budget
- Develop and deliver an annual marketing and communications plan in line with Woodway's commercial objectives and brand guidelines as set out by the board of directors.
- Manage the marketing budget, allocating spend across channels, campaigns and suppliers and reporting on return on investment.
- Line-manage, set objectives for and develop the Digital Marketing & Events Coordinator, ensuring day-to-day output aligns with the strategy and quality standards set out for that role.
- Define and report on marketing KPIs and campaign performance to senior management at a board-appropriate level.
- Maintain and evolve Woodway's brand guidelines and ensure consistency across all internal and external touchpoints, including all brands represented by Woodway.
Sales coordination & enablement
- Work interactively with all members of the sales team to plan and produce the physical and digital materials they need to win and retain business across each market sector.
- Develop sales enablement tools such as pitch decks, product comparison material, application guides and tender / framework support content.
- Coordinate targeted campaigns that can generate, nurture and qualify enquiries to sales, and track their commercial impact using CRM.
- Coordinate marketing's use of the CRM as a shared sales and marketing asset, working closely with the sales team to optimise how leads, contacts, campaigns and opportunities are captured and tracked.
- Improve data quality, segmentation and lead scoring within the CRM to sharpen targeting, ensure clean lead hand over to sales, and reduce duplication.
- Integrate marketing channels (email, web, campaigns) with the CRM so activity and enquiries can flow through automatically and are attributable.
- Use CRM reporting and dashboards to measure marketing's contribution to pipeline and revenue and utilise this to inform future campaign and budget decisions.
- Promote consistent CRM adoption and best practice across the wider sales and marketing team.
- Organise the strategy and coordination for exhibitions, trade shows and customer events, ensuring sales and marketing present a unified, well-equipped front.
- Support new product launches and market entry initiatives through market positioning and relevant campaign material.
High-value content, PR & communications
- Produce and oversee flagship content: customer case studies, application stories, video projects and thought leadership pieces that demonstrate Woodway's expertise in the market.
- Plan and manage video and photography projects from brief through to delivery, directing external resources where required.
- Lead public relations and press activity, drafting and placing professional PR articles across relevant trade media to raise Woodway's profile.
- Prepare award submissions and other reputation building communications.
Brand, supplier & stakeholder management
- Select and manage relevant external agencies, photographers, videographers, printers and PR partners, ensuring quality work is delivered on time and within budget.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships across all internal departments to coordinate the production of promotional and communications materials.
- Ensure the Woodway website is maintained and kept up to date with all relevant product, news, case study and company information, directing the Digital Marketing & Events Coordinator and any external web developers to keep content accurate, current and on brand.
- Conduct periodic reviews to ensure ongoing compliance with branding and content guidelines as set out by senior management.
Market & competitor insight
- Maintain awareness of competitor activity, market trends and customer needs within Woodway's core sectors, feeding insight into marketing strategy and product positioning.
- Support overseas partnership and market expansion activity with appropriate communications and materials.
