NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Physiotherapy Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) to work within Mental Health Physiotherapy as part of a close multidisciplinary team at Stobhill Hospital. The post is suited to someone with experience in healthcare or an exercise-related setting, particularly where clients have a wide range of physical and mental health needs. The successful candidate will require strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively within a team, and confidence in managing their own workload independently.

Physiotherapy at Stobhill Hospital provides a comprehensive service to adult and older adult mental health services, supporting service users with mobility issues, musculoskeletal pain, joint problems, and respiratory conditions. The role covers specialist adult inpatient areas and offers opportunities to learn from experienced clinicians while contributing to service development and high-quality patient care.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Permanent, Full-time

Shift Pattern - Monday Friday 8:30 16:00/16:30

Base location - Stobhill Mental Health Campus

Key responsibilities:

Manage a delegated caseload of physiotherapy patients.
Assess suitability for physical activity and exercise programmes.
Deliver one-to-one exercise and rehabilitation sessions.
Lead and support exercise groups.
Assist with musculoskeletal rehabilitation programmes.
Promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles to support physical and mental wellbeing.
Support community-based activities and use local facilities and green spaces.
Review patient referrals and electronic records.
Participate in daily team meetings and caseload planning.
Work closely with physiotherapy colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Complete administrative duties and maintain health and safety standards.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Understanding of physical activity, rehabilitation, and health promotion principles.
Awareness of the physical and mental health needs of adults and older adults.
Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
Opportunity to learn from experienced physiotherapists in a specialist mental health setting.
Experience of multidisciplinary working and specialist inpatient services.
Development of skills in patient assessment, exercise delivery, group facilitation, and service improvement.
