Full job description

Delamer House Residential Care Home is looking for a caring and enthusiastic Chef to join our team. You will be responsible for preparing nutritious, home-cooked meals for our residents while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene and food safety.Job

Duties & Responsibilities

As Chef at Delamer House Residential Care Home, you will play an important role in providing nutritious, home-cooked meals that contribute to the health and wellbeing of our residents.

Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing and cooking breakfast, lunch, tea and snacks in accordance with planned menus and residents' dietary requirements.
Ensuring all meals are nutritious, well-presented and cater for individual dietary needs, allergies and texture-modified diets.
Maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety in line with current Food Safety Regulations and HACCP procedures.
Completing all required food safety documentation, including temperature monitoring and food management records.
Ordering food supplies, monitoring stock levels and rotating stock to minimise waste.
Ensuring all food is stored correctly and that expired items are safely disposed of.
Cleaning kitchen equipment, work surfaces and storage areas to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Operating kitchen equipment safely and reporting any faults or maintenance issues.
Working effectively with the Home Manager and care staff to ensure residents receive an excellent dining experience.
Attending mandatory training and keeping knowledge of food safety and best practice up to date.
Maintaining excellent personal hygiene and presenting a professional appearance at all times.
Undertaking any other reasonable duties required to support the smooth running of the kitchen.

Hours: 25–27 hours per week, including alternate weekends.

Pay: £14.89–£16.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

NVQ in cooking or hospitality is desirable but not a necessity.

Previous experience of working in a care home kitchen will be an advantage.

Certificate in Food Hygiene or equivalent preferable, although training will be available.
