Job Description

Job Title: Residential Support Worker – Children’s Home
Company: Kelwel Care
Location: Colchester, Essex
Shift Pattern: 2 Days On, 4 Days Off (Sleep-in Required)
Working Hours: 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM + Sleep in
Salary: From £28,000 per annum
Essential: A full UK driving licence

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable and enthusiastic Support Worker to join our team in our Ofsted-regulated home in Colchester.

Role Overview:

You will be working with young people up to 18 years old. You will play a vital role in supporting and helping them to build confidence, life skills, and resilience in a safe and supportive environment

Key Responsibilities:

Build positive relationships with young people to support their emotional and social development.
Support daily routines, including meals, education, and activities.
Create a safe, nurturing environment where young people feel secure and valued.
Manage challenging behaviour using de-escalation and positive behaviour strategies.
Maintain accurate records including logs, reports, and incident forms.
Participate in household tasks like cooking and cleaning when applicable.
Work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.

Qualifications & Skills:

Experience in care or support roles with young people.
Understanding of trauma-informed care and behaviour support.
Education: Qualifications in youth work, social care, or a related field are preferred.
Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to engage and motivate young people.
Attributes: Energetic, patient, and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting youth development.
Requirements: A full UK driving licence and a clear Enhanced DBS check or willingness to complete one.
