Workshop Assistant – Hilton Garage

Hilton Garage is looking for a reliable, hands-on Workshop Assistant to join our team. This is a practical role focused on daily vehicle checkovers, inter-site vehicle movements, and supporting the workshop team to keep our fleet and customer vehicles running safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Vehicle Checkovers (Walkaround Checks)

Check fluid levels (engine oil, coolant, screen wash).
Inspect tyre pressure, tread depth (legal minimum 1.6 mm), and sidewalls for damage.
Test all lights, indicators, wipers, and horn.
Identify and log body damage, loose trim, or cracked glass.
Check dashboard warning lights and test brakes/handbrake.

Driving Between Sites & Logistics

Safely transfer vehicles, parts, or equipment between company sites and depots.
Complete pre- and post-journey defect sheets or digital logs.
Follow UK road traffic laws and company transport policies at all times.
Park and manoeuvre vehicles safely in tight workshop and depot spaces.

General Workshop Support

Assist technicians with light repairs, tool organisation, and parts collection.
Keep work areas, ramps, and bays clean and free from hazards.
Help with vehicle valeting/washing before handover or after servicing.
Report any vehicle faults or site hazards immediately to the Workshop Supervisor.

What We’re Looking For

Full UK driving licence (essential).
Basic mechanical awareness and a practical, safety-first approach.
Reliable, organised, and able to work as part of a busy workshop team.
Willingness to follow strict safety guidelines when inspecting and moving vehicles.

Pay: £13.50-£16.00 per hour
