IT Support Engineer
Salary: From £30,000 per annum, depending on experience
Location: Leavenheath, Suffolk, with travel to our Boxford and Ardleigh sites
Job Type: Full-time, permanent, office/site based
Working Pattern: Five days over seven, with occasional on-call duties and out-of-hours project work
Join the Boxford Group
The Boxford Group is a family-owned collection of successful East Anglian businesses, comprising:
- Stoke by Nayland Resort – Hotel, Golf, Spa and Leisure Resort
- Boxford Farms – Leading fruit growing business
- Peake Fruit – Fruit packing and marketing enterprise
Technology plays a vital role across every part of our business. From traditional IT infrastructure including desktops, servers, networking and Wi-Fi, through to hospitality systems, production equipment, communications, farm technology and site infrastructure, our IT team supports a wide and varied estate.
We're looking for a capable, practical and enthusiastic 1st Line IT Support Engineer to join our internal IT team. Working alongside our trusted Managed Service Provider (MSP), you'll provide first-class support across the Group while gaining exposure to an unusually diverse range of technologies and environments.
The Role
No two days are the same.
This is far more than a traditional helpdesk role. You'll spend time supporting colleagues across offices, hotel and leisure facilities, comms rooms, production areas, farms and operational plant, helping to keep the Group running smoothly.
You'll enjoy getting hands-on, solving problems and investigating issues, whether that's replacing hardware, tracing network cabling, configuring devices, supporting Wi-Fi, or assisting with operational technologies used throughout the business.
Working closely with our MSP partner, you'll resolve day-to-day issues while developing your technical skills across a broad range of business-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-line IT support across all Group businesses and sites
- Resolve support requests in partnership with our MSP
- Support Windows desktops, laptops, printers, telephony, networking, Wi-Fi and user accounts
- Troubleshoot connectivity and infrastructure issues across multiple locations
- Assist with operational technologies including TV distribution, communications links, production equipment, Bio Digester Heat Plants and other specialist systems
- Perform routine maintenance including updates, security patching and health checks
- Support IT projects and system improvements
- Escalate complex issues where appropriate
- Maintain accurate documentation and IT asset records
- Work collaboratively with Operations, Maintenance and external technology partners
About You
We're looking for someone with the right attitude just as much as technical ability.
You don't need to know everything already, but you should be naturally curious, enjoy solving problems and be comfortable working in real-world environments where every challenge is different.
You'll be someone who approaches problems logically, keeps calm under pressure and enjoys finding solutions rather than jumping to conclusions.
Skills & Experience
Ideally, you'll have:
- Around two years' experience in IT support, helpdesk or desktop support
- Good knowledge of Windows desktop environments
- Understanding of networking, Wi-Fi, basic server concepts and data communications
- Confidence working with hardware, switches, access points, cabling and end-user devices
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- The ability to work independently and know when to escalate issues
- A willingness to learn and develop
- Good written and spoken English
- IT certifications such as CompTIA, MTA or similar (desirable but not essential)
- A full UK driving licence, as travel between Leavenheath, Boxford and Ardleigh is required
Salary & BenefitsFrom Day One
We believe in rewarding our team from the moment they join us. You'll enjoy:
- Salary from £30,000, depending on experience and qualifications
- 28 days' annual leave
- 30% discount on food in our dining outlets for you and up to three guests
- 20% discount on soft drinks in our dining outlets
- 10% discount on alcoholic drinks in our dining outlets
- 20% discount on lunch items in Pippin
- 5% discount on retail purchases in Pippin
- Access to Hospitality Action's Employee Assistance Programme, providing confidential wellbeing and support services
After Successfully Completing Probation (3 Months)
For colleagues working 30+ hours per week, you'll also receive:
- Discounted hotel accommodation
- 10% discount on Lodge bookings
- 20% discount on Spa treatments
- Discounted Stoke by Nayland event tickets
- Complimentary membership of Peake Fitness (subject to availability)
- Complimentary golf on our two championship courses (subject to availability)

Your immediate family member or significant other can enjoy:
- 50% discount on full Golf Membership
- 42% discount on full Peake Fitness membership*
Why Join Us?
This is an excellent opportunity to build your IT career within a diverse organisation where technology genuinely matters.
You'll gain experience supporting everything from corporate IT infrastructure through to hospitality systems, production technology and specialist operational equipment, giving you exposure that few first-line support roles can offer.
If you're practical, eager to learn and enjoy solving problems, we'd love to hear from you.
